1 PM/ET Games:
Bengals @ Steelers: BOOM let’s start the day with the best game of the week. Division rivalry game between two top teams in the AFC with AJ Green vs. Antonio Brown on the line. This game will be a defensive showdown though as all AFC North battles seem to be exactly that. The Bengals struggled with the Jets in the Meadowlands and they have another stop before returning home to Paul Brown Stadium. Big Ben and company ripped apart the Redskins with the aerial and ground game. I think midseason form this game will have a different outcome but week 2 in Pittsburgh, Steelers win 20 – 12 over the Bengals.
Titans @ Lions: The Lions held on in an attempted comeback from the Colts and picked up an important 1-0 start to the season. The Titans ran into the Vikings defense, it looked like a runner after running 2 miles and they hit the “wall”. The Vikings were slow out the gate and the Titans looked like they had the game figured out but it all went away fast once that defense got fired up. Good news Titan fans, you’re facing the Lions defense this week and they are bottom 10 defensively in the NFL. This game will be a sling fest and we shall see who comes out the winner, Stafford or Mariota. I have to go with the more proven team the past few years and take the Lions win 31 – 22 over the Titans.
Ravens @ Browns: No RGIII well that could actually be a better thing for the Browns. The Ravens defense really shocked me last week but historically over the past 5 years the Ravens are a terrible road team and if that doesn’t change this team could lose to an embarrassing Browns team. The ground game for both teams is a bit lacking and if it comes to a shootout the Ravens will easily win this game due to the fact that McCown is a bad option I personally believe it should be Kessler. The countdown is at 3 games until Josh Gordon rejoins the team. Ravens win 20 – 16 over the Browns.
Cowboys @ Redskins: Terrance Williams possibly cost the Boys a W last week, POSSIBLY. The Skins just simply got manhandled last week. This game shouldn’t really be close if Dez remembers how to play WR this week. If he does this will be all Cowboys. I think the Skins have a lot more issues than people thought to start the season. Cowboys win 31 – 20 over the Redskins.
Saints @ Giants: This is a battle I want to see. No defenses with two QB’s who can sling the ball. This will be a lot of fun this weekend. Odell vs Cooks is the battle I will watch because I believe Cooks is with maturity the better WR and I am excited to see what he does as the season goes on even more. Saints win 37 – 32 over the Giants.
49ers @ Panthers: SNOOZE FEST. The 49ers ran into the worst offense in the league on Monday night trust me that doesn’t make their defense nor them a good team. The Panthers were exposed for losing something on defense last week but that offense will tear the 49ers apart at home. Panthers win 34 – 10 over the 49ers.
Dolphins @ Patriots: The road trip is going to be a rough continued one for the Dolphins to say the least. The Patriots shocked me honestly I thought they would be decent with Jimmy but I didn’t think they would beat the Cardinals without Brady and Gronk. That just makes you stop and wonder how good are these Pats when they get Brady and Gronk back?! This is going to be a great game for Pats fantasy owners. Patriots win 30 – 13 over the Dolphins.
Chiefs @ Texans: This game could be interesting. I really like what Will Fuller brings the Texans offense but I saw something out of Alex Smith last week that I really liked as well. I honestly hope this game comes down to a defensive battle because these defenses are intense and worth every second of time watching this game. But someone more than likely will win this game. Texans win 17 – 14 over the Chiefs.
4 PM/ET Games:
Seahawks @ Rams: This Rams offense needs to get Goff in there and let him learn because they are a complete joke due to the fact that their o-line and WR’s are below average. I think the best WR the Rams have is Pharoh Cooper who is battling an injury and I would love to see when he comes back. The Hawks struggled last week with the Dolphins in Seattle but don’t worry Seahawk fans they started really bad last year and it was irrelevant in the end because they were one of the best teams in the league and they still are. Seahawks win 23 – 6 over the Rams.
Buccaneers @ Cardinals: The Bucs won game one but they beat a terrible defense they now go to Arizona to play a stellar defense. Winston keeps growing though and if the Bucs defense can hold up they could shock the world and go 2-0 by beating the Cardinals this weekend. The Cardinals need to just feed the rock to David Johnson and get John Brown involved more in the passing game and they will be right back on track. Cardinals bounce back and win 29 – 21 over the Buccaneers.
Jaguars @ Chargers: The Jags really stuck in there with the Packers last week. They proved what I have been saying all offseason, they could compete in the NFL this year. The Chargers imploded defensively and offensively last week after getting a big lead early. They lost Keenan Allen for the year and if they want to be competitive this year the other offensive pieces need to step up early and often. Jaguars win 30 – 20 over the Chargers.
Falcons @ Raiders: I feel so bad for Matt Ryan because this guy can’t get a defense behind him and his WR’s seem to keep having injury issues. This team is going to struggle moving forward, they aren’t even close to a playoff run right now. Unfortunately for them I think they are headed to the Black Hole to face a team that is playoff ready. Raiders win 31 – 23 over the Falcons.
Colts @ Broncos: Would the people who schedule games stop beating this drum, Peyton is gone
this game isn’t relevant anymore. The Colts will come into Mile High and play something they don’t have called a defense. The Broncos will use their sneaky offense to win this one and playing the worst defense in the league especially without Vontae Davis, if he doesn’t play, is going to get blown away. Broncos win 28 – 17 over the Colts.
SNF (8:30 PM/ET):
Packers @ Vikings: The Packers will continue that road run with a stop in their rival stadium against the Vikings. If the Packers can play run defense this game will be a blowout. Aaron Rodgers already looks happy again on the field with Jordy back and his best buddy will once again be his target when he finds himself in trouble against this defense. Packers win 20 – 17 over the Vikings.
MNF (8:30 PM/ET):
Eagles @ Bears: Okay who honestly thought this would be a good primetime game? The Eagles are a way better team than the Bears. Maybe they have a shot since its in Soldier field? Eh Who knows I got the Eagles win 30 – 23 over the Bears.
- Matt Koontz (8-8)
Week 2 Games
Saints vs Giants: Expect a shootout as neither team has a defense. I can easily see there being a total of 80-90 points in this game. I believe the Giants will strike first, but the Saints will strike last. Saints win 48-42 over the Giants.
Chiefs vs Texans: The battle of defenses. This game can go either way, as both QBs showed something last week. No Charles? No problem for the Chiefs again as I predict 150 yards between their backs. I think Miller will find room as well, amassing 100 total yards. I am calling this one close, but think Coach Reids time management issues bite him again, leaving the Texas winning 17-14 over the Chiefs
Titans vs Lions: One team looked sharp last week, the other imploded. I believe this will carry over into this week. Stafford was ballin last week, and a Titans offense that struggled will find no easier of a day. Lions win 35-20 over the Titans
49ers vs Panthers: Chip Kelly is back at it. He looked good in week 1, but haven't we seen this before. Carolina took a tough loss, and I think they come out with some fire. Chip can't game plan for this one, as the Panthers roll 28-10 over the 49ers
Cowboys vs Redskins: Kirk or Dak? Will Morris show up? Does Zeke find room? Is Jones a factor this week? Is Dez going to catch anything? These are all question marks, and I hope we find some answers till then. The mental mistakes will haunt the Cowboys in this game, leading the Skins winning 21-17 over the Boys
Bengals vs Steelers: What a rivalry. This one will be dirty, hard hitting, and ugly. I think this comes down to who hits harder. Steelers win in dramatic fashion 28-27 over the Bengals
Dolphins vs Patriots: The Fins defense showed up last week. The question is, are they for real? I think there is something to be seen now with them, and with Gronk still questionable and Brady still deflated, I think the Fins can pull one out of a hat here. Miami 17-14 over the Pats
Ravens vs Browns: RG3 left a bitter taste in the football worlds mouth, again. Sorry Browns fans, its just not your year, again. Ravens win 21-7 over the Browns
Buccaneers vs Cardinals: Arizona was embarrassed last week. If there is one thing I am certain of, Palmer is better than that. It won't happen this week. Cards win 30-20 over the Buccs.
Seahawks vs Rams: Ok, so Gurley guaranteed a win this week. With Russell hurt, and the was Miami held the Seahawks down, could we have an upset special this week? I am going to go off script here and say yes, we do. Seattle will get back on track next week, but I think the Rams figure it out for one game and win. Rams upset the Hawks, 24-21
Jaguars vs Chargers: Injuries can derail a season. They can also allow for talent to step up and shine. I think Williams will step up to the challenge again, but it just won't be enough for the high powered offense of the Jags. Jags cruise 35-17 over the Bolts
Flacons vs Raiders: Carr is better than any Falcons defensive player, and Cooper has come into his own. We see AC/DC fly all over, and even Matty Ice can't cool this Raider team this week. Raiders win 28-21
Colts vs Broncos: Tale of two tapes here. I believe Luck will come out firing, but the Broncos will ride their defense and Anderson to another win. Broncos win 20-17 over the Colts
Packers vs Vikings: I always love divisional games. So much dislike between the teams, and this one has no love lost. Elite offense vs Elite Defense. I think Rodgers gets the best of them, especially if Bradford gets his first start in the purple, it will be check down city. Packers win 28-7 over the Vikings
Eagles vs Bears: Wentz was golden against the Browns. Now I know, its the Browns. But lets not forget Pro Bowl Haden couldn't stop the wagon from rolling either. The Bears will be a tougher test, especially on the road in the spotlight. But Cutler rattles easy, and the Schwartz will not make him comfortable. Eagles win 28-14 over da Bears
--Jared M. (10-7)
San Francisco 49ers @ Carolina Panthers. The 49ers had a phenomenal start to the season against the Rams, but the outcome will be different this week. The Panthers are a far better team than the Rams; last year they were the best team in the NFL. While the Panthers lack cornerback depth, the 49ers lack WR depth. That helps tip the scales in the Panthers favor. Final score: Carolina Panthers 35, San Francisco 49ers 14.
Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns. Does RGIII look like a running back? Does he? Then why you gonna play him like one Hue?! With RGIII out for the season, the new Cleveland Browns will look to regroup facing the original Cleveland Browns, a.k.a. the Baltimore Ravens. Josh McCown already knows the system, and he could pull off a big upset at home. Browns win in upset fashion. Final score: Cleveland Browns 21, Baltimore Ravens 20.
Tennessee Titans @ Detroit Lions. This is a nearly impossible game to call for me, but with Stafford looking like a beast with his new offensive coordinator, I expect this game to go Detroit's way. Both of these defenses have some holes, however, so this could be a high scoring game. Final score: Detroit Lions 38, Tennessee Titans 35.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Houston Texans. This is going to be a pretty fun game to watch. Two dominant defenses with offenses headed in the opposite directions. The Texans are on the uptick and the Chiefs have questions about Jamaal Charles. I think the Texans take this one and establish them as a team to watch down the stretch. Texans win. Final score: Houston Texans 24, Kansas City Chiefs 14.
Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots. I keep wanting to pick the Dolphins in this one, but the Patriots just don't lose games at home. Even without Tom Brady, the Patriots win this one. Final score: New England Patriots 24, Miami Dolphins 21.
New Orleans Saints @ New York Giants. This game is going to be a very high scoring game. Two horrible defenses. two solid offenses. What team comes out on top? I'll go with the home team. Final score: New York Giants 38, New Orleans Saints 35.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers. As a Bengals fan, I desperately want Cincinnati to win this game. That being said, as a realist, I'm going with Pittsburgh. The Bengals looked not just sloppy last week against the Jets, but double secret sloppy. Big mistakes by the Jets helped the Bengals overcome their own mistakes. They won't be as lucky in Pittsburgh. Steelers win. Final score: Pittsburgh Steelers 27, Cincinnati 24. At least one fight during the game.
Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins. I like Dak Prescott as a quarterback, but they head into Washington to face a division rival who is actually looking pretty capable as well. This could be a pretty close game, but my gut is with Washington on this one. Final score: Washington Redskins 24, Dallas Cowboys 22.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are a very, very tough team to beat, especially with Carson Palmer healthy. As good as Tampa Bay is turning out to be, Carson Palmer is healthy. Cardinals win. Final score: Arizona Cardinals 28, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24.
Seattle Seahawks @ LA Rams. Last week, the Rams make us wonder if the 49ers were who we thought they were. Then they let them off the hook. Jeff Fisher is an intelligent coach who should whip this Rams team into a fury heading into this matchup. I've seen far too many people expecting a blowout in this one; I think the Rams could be tough to beat this week. In fact, I nearly picked them. Know what? This is the NFL, and crazy things happen every week. The Rams beat the Seahawks in LA! Final score: LA Rams 21, Seattle Seahawks 20.
Indianapolis Colts @ Denver Broncos. Both of Peyton Manning's former teams match up this week in Denver. The Colts look better under center right now, the Broncos look better on defense. Denver wins this one at home. Final score: Denver Broncos 27, Indianapolis Colts 13.
Atlanta Falcons @ Oakland Raiders. Oakland is looking like a playoff team right about now. The Falcons are still largely disappointing. This is a statement game for the Raiders, and they will show that they have arrived. I think they win this one. Final score: Oakland Raiders 35, Atlanta Falcons 24.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ San Diego Chargers. The Chargers without Kelvin Benjamin? The Jacksonville defense will feast. I like San Diego's team, but Jacksonville could be a Superbowl contender in a few seasons. Right now, they're better than the Chargers. Jacksonville wins. Final score: Jacksonville Jaguars 27, San Diego Chargers 14.
Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings. This could have been a great matchup. The Vikings could have been contenders. Next year, they should be. This year however, they have huge question marks under center, and the Packers will exploit those question marks much like their defensive linemen used to exploit Rex Grossman. Packers win this one. Final score: Green Bay Packers 23, Minnesota Vikings 14.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears. Philadelphia is what Chicago could have been if they had moved on from Jay Cutler. Carson Wentz is the real deal under center, and even though the Bears look like a team on the rise, they still struggle under center with Cutler. Grab your tissues, Bears fans. You're in for a tough game. Final score: Philadelphia Eagles 35, Chicago Bears 27.
