This week on Thursday night, the Falcons travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers. During a week one matchup in Atlanta, the Buccaneers pulled off a win over the Falcons. Since then, the Buccaneers have gone 2-4 and the Falcons have gone 5-1. The Falcons appear to be making a strong push towards the playoffs, while the Buccaneers' playoff hopes are currently on life support. Will Tampa Bay right the ship and pull off a victory this week to sweep the Falcons in 2016? Will Atlanta continue to win and work their way towards the 2016 playoffs? Here are some picks.
I'm leaning hesitantly towards the Falcons right now. I think this will be an extremely close game, but at the end of the day, the Falcons offense has more weapons and is healthier than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense. I expect Tampa Bay to be competitive in this game, but the Falcons will win it, barely. Also, as an aside, I've always been somewhat skeptical of Thursday Night Football; a fun article published by Tom Jones of the Tampa Bay Times mirrors my own views on the topic rather nicely; I love football, but the league is forcing football into far too many days with far too few great matchups. Falcons (5-3) @ Buccaneers (3-4): The Buccaneers couldn't beat a team that broke the record in penalties in a single game and racked up over 200 yards in Penalties. Thats how bad this Buccaneers team is. The Falcons are coming off an impressive win of the Packers and they will continue momentum here. Expect big games from Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman. Falcons 31 - 20 over the Buccaneers ------ Matt Koontz
Atlanta shouldn't have any problems beating this Tampa Bay team, however, crazier things happen on Thursday nights. I still believe that the Falcons will win 27-21
Atlanta over Tampa Bay 27-20
Atlanta 27 - Tampa Bay 14
Falcons win, 35-24.
