Steelers @ Patriots: It's the opening night of football, and obviously lots of things have happened to both the Steelers and the Patriots in the way of suspensions and players missing games. Quite honestly, this isn't a game I'm really looking forward to because neither team has any players I'm super excited to watch tonight. Sure we get to see how Brady performs after the whole "Deflategate" scandal, and so many people think he's going to have a wonderful year because he feels spited by the NFL. Truth be told, he shouldn't. He collaborated in cheating and should be suspended. Yes. Cheating should not be tolerated. It dishonors the game.
Having stepped off my soapbox, I must still say I like Brady in general and think he'll have a normal season opener. I believe this game will be close and that Big Ben will outperform Brady for most of the game but throw a costly pick at the end. The game will end with Tom punching in a TD pass to Gronk in the last 3 minutes and the Steelers not being able to respond. Patriots win 24-17. Over and out!
Steelers @ Patriots: This game is going to be a great season opener. I have been eagerly awaiting the start of the season, and I'm so glad that it's finally here! These 2 teams will hopefully start the season off with a bang. Now, with the recent news of The Brady Bunch getting their starting QB back, their team is looking a lot better. (Not to say that they would have done poorly with Garoppolo. Jimmy looked really good in preseason, and I feel that he has a ton of upside that has not been shown in a regular season game.) The Steelers are not looking as good as their opponents. Their star running back is suspended, and will not be joining the team in the opening game of the season. (Bell will return from his suspension on week 3, in St. Louis to face the Rams.) True, Pittsburgh does have Antonio Brown, and the New England defensive backs are not as strong as they were last year. Although Big Ben may be a good QB, I do not necessarily agree with ranking him above others, such as Russell Wilson. This is going to be a tight air battle between these 2 teams. However, I give the Patriots the edge, winning 27-20.
Steelers @ Patriots: First things first. I'm tired of every major controversy becoming a "gate." Spygate. Deflategate. Carry-your-fiancee-out-of-an-elevator-gate. There is only one "gate," and it was Watergate. These other controversies have nothing to do with the Nixon administration or the Watergate hotel. Let Watergate be. Can't we come up with something more creative? I refuse to use the term "deflategate" moving forward. Let's call it ballsapalooza. Now for my prediction.
The Steelers are missing some key offensive weapons, after losing Le'Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant to suspensions. That being said, DeAngelo Williams is a decent backup and should perform capably enough, and the Steelers have some decent depth at wide receiver. However, the Patriots have a more complete offense after Brady's suspension for ballsapalooza was thrown out. Yes, they're missing Blount (also suspended), but Gronk is healthy and Brady will play.
This game is going to be a shootout most likely. Both teams have gaping holes in their defenses. The team with the more complete offense will likely win this game. Given the fact that Brady will play, the Patriots have the more complete offense. Le'Veon Bell is a bigger loss than LeGarrette Blount. I expect the Patriots to scrape out a close one, and defeat the Steelers. Final score: Patriots 42, Steelers 38. Ballsapalooza is over and football is back! The 2015 NFL season is here!
