NFL Week 14: Ah Week 14 already as the NFL season is coming to an end and fantasy playoffs around the world have begun. I will give you my picks but also my best sit and start as well as a dark horse start for your fantasy team this weekend.
Steelers @ Bills: The Steelers impressed me last week with the way they handled the Giants and now they must go face a team with a good QB and a great ground game. The Steelers offense will need to be clicking and I believe they will do just that. Ok who to start on the Steelers side fantasy wise would be Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell. The should sit player if you had to choose one on the Steelers I would say is Sammie Coates. Now for the Bills I would start Shady and sit Sammy Watkins. My dark horse fantasy impact player in this game is Gillisee. Now Bills win 25 – 23 over the Steelers on Shady’s big day.
Broncos @ Titans: The Broncos are entering this weekend’s game without being entirely sure who their QB will be. The Titans have Mariota and there aren’t many QB’s in the league like that in the NFL that is for sure. The Titans ground game is as good as any other in the league. The Broncos are going to win games this year with the same old system and that isn’t a bad thing but it’s defense and more defense. They almost lost last week to the Jaguars and they are now playing a much tougher team in the Titans. My player to start for the Broncos is Demarious Thomas and their player to sit is Devontae Booker. The Titans player to start is Demarco Murray and the player to sit would be Mariota due to their pass defense. The dark horse fantasy player for this game is Derrick Henry he could make a nice impact. Titans 21 – 17 over the Broncos.
Redskins @ Eagles: The Redskins are coming off back to back losses and it has given them an extremely slim shot at the playoffs at this point. They must win the wild card and they must stick to a win out mentality at this point. The Eagles on the other hand should start scouting the draft class because it’s draft day mentality time. This game is a crap shoot for the Redskins because it’s a trap it’s a should win easy game and must win game at the same time. The Redskins fantasy player to start is without a doubt Kirk Cousins and if Jordan Reed plays, him too. The must sit for the Skins should be DeSean Jackson. The Eagles must start is really hard to figure out I guess I will go with Carson Wentz. The must sit for the Eagles is simple pick a WR. The dark horse pick to start if your in a pinch from this game would be Zach Ertz. Redskins win 36 – 20 over the Eagles.
Cardinals @ Dolphins: The Cardinals really finally showed me what they have been capable of last week with their win over the Redskins last week. The team is led by David Johnson and he is their MVP and honestly should be considered MVP of the league because regardless of their record without him they could very well be winless. The Dolphins got annihilated by the Ravens last week and proved their run of wins was fake and going nowhere. They aren’t an AFC Wild-card team and they will see why they won’t be. The fantasy must start for the Cardinals is obviously David Johnson but that’s too easy, I would have to say give Fitz a start. The Cardinals sit is John Brown for me just because he has been inconsistent this year. Now the Dolphins if you have one for fantasy I would give Parker a start he has been hot and won’t be against Patrick Peterson much as those honors should go to Jarvis Landry. Now the must sit for the Dolphins is probably Ajayi because well he has to face the 3rd ranked rush defense in the league. My dark horse start for this game if you’re in a jam would be JJ Nelson. Cardinals run away with this one, literally, and win 36 – 21 over the Dolphins.
Chargers @ Panthers: The Chargers are an awesome offensive team and their defense is okay but injuries have plagued them. The Rivers arm and WR’s should eat this defense alive though. The Panthers have no secondary and they have a rough game ahead of them if they play as horrible as they did against the Seahawks last week. The must start for the Chargers is Rivers and honestly Tyrell Williams should be too. The only player I would worry about for the Chargers could be Melvin because Carolina can normally stop the run. The Panthers must start should be Greg Olsen and the sit player is Kelvin Benjamin as he has to face Casey Hayward this week. The dark horse starter in a pinch, Dontrelle Inman. Chargers win 27 – 24 over the Panthers.
Bengals @ Browns: The Bengals absolutely demolished the Eagles last week and they get to the road here and have to face the winless Browns. Andy and company figured out how to win without AJ last week and they need to keep that going and figure out if they can pick up wins consistently to give themselves hopes for the playoffs. The Browns are winless and are starting RGIII this week for the first time since week one and that makes this offense an even more unknown coming into this matchup. The Bengals must start is Tyler Eifert and Andy Dalton, their sit player should be Brandon LaFell. The Browns player to start should be Terrell Pryor because he’s going to burn someone sometime. The dark horse fantasy player in this matchup is RGIII actually. Bengals win 20 – 17 over the Browns.
Bears @ Lions: The Bears literally made everyone see Sackorpick of the Niners for what he is, a terrible QB who can’t keep possession of the ball without running the ball. The Lions defense really made Drew Brees look bad and I think that is bad news for Matt Barkley coming into this game. The Lions are going to see that the Bears defense is actually fairly good and this game could be semi-interesting if Jordan Howard and Barkley could get off the ground. I think the must start for the Bears is Jordan Howard naturally just because he is amazing. The sit for the Bears should be Cameron Merideth and Matt Barkley both. The Lions starts must be Golden Tate and my sit for the Lions should be Ebron. The dark horse start for this game I have to say should be Theo Riddick. UPSET ALERT BEARS WIN 23 – 20 over the Lions.
Texans @ Colts: I don’t know what to say about Houston except they have a good defense. Their offense sucks and it will this week even against the Colts horrendous defense. The Colts have absolutely no O-line and no defense but their offense still finds ways to win games. I can’t give all the credit to Luck as he is overrated, I have to give some props to TY Hilton because they look like a different team without him. The must start for the Texans is Lamar Miller because the Colts defense is so bad. The Texans on the other hand must sit is well Brock in this one. The Colts I would be hesitant to say anyone against this defense but TY Hilton is my pick for this one. Their player to be wary of is Frank Gore and honestly could be Andrew Luck. Dark horse starter for this game in fantasy if you are in a pinch I would have to say is Will Fuller. Colts win? I think? 26 – 23 over the Texans.
Vikings @ Jaguars: Defense, defense, defense. This game is simply a battle of defense and may the best defense win. The Jaguars have the 4th best defense in the league and the Vikings have the 3rd best defense in the league. The Jaguars will be at home for this one. The Vikings have the 31st ranked offense though and that is horrifyingly bad while the Jaguars are slightly better and have the 22nd ranked offense. This game is honestly interesting because I think the Jaguars have the better team and just lose due to turnovers and their coaching is partially responsible. I do not believe the Vikings are honestly a top 20 team when it comes down to it. Now the player to start in this game on the Vikings side is without a doubt Stefon Diggs because he gets the ball no matter what. The player to sit in this one for the Vikings in fantasy is Sam Bradford as he will struggle here against this Jaguars defense on the road. The Jaguars must start player is honestly nobody and I would say their D/ST is where I would go. The player for the Jags I would be afraid to start the most is Yeldon/Ivory. I would keep both on your bench. Dark horse pick for a good game fantasy wise that could be worth a gamble is Adam Thielen. Jaguars win 17 – 13 over the Vikings.
Jets @ 49ers: Really is this game. Um okay look the 49ers suck and the Jets have no offense but they have a defense for the most part. Not so much passing but the 49ers can’t do that as it is. Fantasy matchup I wouldn’t start any 49ers except the defense because Bryce Petty will throw picks. The Jets must start is Matt Forte and the Jets do not start is Bryce Petty. The dark horse in this game is probably Carlos Hyde regardless of the Jets defense I think he should be started as a RB2 in most leagues. Jets win, Forte his 130 yards. Jets win 7 – 2 over the 49ers.
Saints @ Buccaneers: Offense vs. offense. The Saints need to win this to keep themselves alive and the Buccaneers need this win to keep pace with Atlanta in this division. The Buccaneers are rolling as of late and that defense has gotten stingy and playing hard against everyone. The Saints offense had a horrible week last week and they to find themselves this week quickly. The Buccaneers need to keep what they have been doing up and just don’t look back. This game is tough because I am not sure if Michael Thomas is playing and that makes a huge difference for the Saints offense. My must start for this game for the Saints is Drew Brees and Michael Thomas both. Now if you have to choose someone to sit I would make it Hightower. The Buccaneers must start is Mike Evans and their player to sit is Doug Martin even though the Saints defense sucks. The dark horse if your desperate here is Russel Shepard in this one. Drew Brees keeps his teams hopes alive. Saints win 30 – 27 over the Buccaneers.
Falcons @ Rams: Falcons offense needs to solve the Rams defense and just let their defense have fun with the Rams offense. The Rams need to hope Goff turns things around this week because he is struggling as of late and they need that to change quick. Falcons win they remain in first and control their own destiny and I think Matt Ryan finds a way to do so. Must start in this game for the Falcons fantasy wise is Matt Ryan. The guy to sit in this one for the Falcons is Muhammad Sanu. The Rams player to start is Kenny Britt as the Falcons have the 32nd ranked pass defense. The player to sit for the Rams is Todd Gurley in this game. The sneaky pick if your desperate in this game is Tavon Austin as I expect at least one big play this game. Falcons win 24 – 15 over the Rams.
Seahawks @ Packers: The Seahawks destroyed the Panthers last week and just completely showed their dominance in the NFL last week the issue is for them Aaron Rodgers is playing for the Packers playoff life. The Seahawks lost Earl Thomas for the year last week and that is bad news for their secondary as they lost their captain. The Packers though are so inconsistent and I have no idea who to pick and where to go with this one but I can give my fantasy ideas at least for this one. I think the Seahawks must start is Doug Baldwin or Jimmy Graham and the guy to sit is going to be Jermaine Kearse. The Packers must start is always Aaron Rodgers but I will say Jordy Nelson as well. The do not start is Ty Montgomery at all. The dark horse to start this game should be Randall Cobb as I feel he could have a good game in this one. Packers win 29 – 27 over the Seahawks.
SNF (8:30 PM/ET):
Cowboys @ Giants: The Cowboys are the 2nd best team in the NFC behind the Seahawks and their defense is not good enough. The Cowboys have one loss this season and the Giants are that one loss to say the least. The Giants need to stop the run and do it as a priority if they want to win this game because Dak can’t beat Eli one on one. So, their focus should be stop Zeke and put pressure on that offensive line. The Cowboys must do what they can to put a ton of pressure on Eli Manning and keep them out of rhythm. The must start for the Cowboys has to be Zeke and the sit should be Dez honestly as he has to face Janoris Jenkins. The Giants player to start is without a doubt Odell as he should shred that defense and their must sit is Rashad Jennings. The player to start if in a pinch is Sterling Shepard this week. Giants upset the Boys for a 2nd time this year. Giants win 31 – 27 over the Cowboys.
MNF (8:30 PM/ET):
Ravens @ Patriots: The Ravens need to win this game to prove they aren’t just a division winning caliber team and that they can handle the top teams in the NFL. The problem is their offense isn’t that good and they are playing a slightly above average defense this week. The Ravens boast the best defense in the NFL while they are heading to Foxboro and will be facing the 5th ranked offense in the league. The Patriots win this game they would be winnings this division guaranteed and they will remain the 1 seed. The player to start for the Ravens in this one fantasy wise is Steve Smith Sr. and the player to sit for the Ravens is Terrance West. I think the Patriots player to start is Julian Edelman and the player to sit is Martellus Bennett. The dark horse pick for this game that people should start if they have him is Chris Hogan because he could make a difference late in the game. Patriots win 23 – 21 over the Ravens on Monday Night. ------- Matt Koontz (110 – 80)
Minnesota Vikings @ Jacksonville Jaguars. The Vikings just played a really good game against the Cowboys, even though they lost. They should be able to carry the momentum from playing with one of the top seeds in the NFC into this week's matchup against the struggling Jaguars. Vikings win. Final score: Minnesota Vikings 27, Jacksonville Jaguars 21.
Denver Broncos @ Tennessee Titans. The Titans have a legitimate chance to win their division this season. Denver, on the other hand, is struggling this year after winning a Superbowl and losing Peyton Manning to retirement. I think the Titans squeeze this one out and continue to make a case for a playoff slot. Final score: Tennessee Titans 21, Denver Broncos 20.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills. The Steelers have more offensive weapons than the Bills. They have better coaching than the Bills. They are having a better season than the Bills. They will beat the Bills. Steelers win. Final score: Pittsburgh Steelers 35, Buffalo Bills 24.
Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts. The Texans, Colts, and Titans are in a 3-way tie on top of their division with 6-6 records across the board. I think Houston is the better team this week, even with Brock Osweiler under center. Texans win, Titans win, and the two teams with recent ties to Houston take a spot on top of the AFC South. Final score: Houston Texans 24, Indianapolis Colts 17.
Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions. The Lions are playing for a division title. The Bears are playing to improve their draft stock. The Bears are who we think they are, and they will lose against Detroit. Final score: Detroit Lions 35, Chicago Bears 12.
San Diego Chargers @ Carolina Panthers. The Chargers started extremely strong this year and then imploded down the stretch. The Panthers, on the other hand, have been struggling on and off all year round. This game will be a disappointment in ways; both of these teams could have been in playoff contention. Instead, we get to watch two teams clinging to the barest of wildcard dreams. I think the Panthers win this one at home following a tough game last week. Final score: Carolina Panthers 28, San Diego Chargers 27.
Arizona Cardinals @ Miami Dolphins. Both of these teams are fighting to stay in contention for a wildcard spot in their respective conferences. Miami takes this one at home to further their case and stay in contention. Final score: Miami Dolphins 23, Arizona Cardinals 17.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns. I'm taking an upset in this game. The Browns have had two weeks to prepare to face the Bengals thanks to their bye. Hue Jackson is familiar with Marvin Lewis, as the two have spent years working together. These two teams usually play each other hard, and Cleveland could come out on fire this week at home and beat Cincinnati for their first win of the season. Mike Nugent misses an extra point in the process. Final score: Cleveland Browns 21, Cincinnati Bengals 20.
Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles. Divisional rivalry game, but do the Eagles have enough talent to compete? Last week's game against the Bungles suggests that they might struggle. I'm giving the Redskins the edge in this one until the Eagles get some receivers. Final score: Washington Redskins 24, Philadelphia Eagles 23.
New York Jets @ San Francisco 49ers. I have no faith in Bryce Pettty. I also can't stand Colin Kaeperpick. This is going to be a rather sloppy game, but somebody's gotta win it. I nearly went 49ers in this one, but I'll give the Jets the edge. Jets win. Final score: New York Jets 12, San Francisco 49ers 10.
New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This could be the game of the week. Both of these teams have explosive talent, but the Buccaneers have more talent on defense. That being said, this is a must-win game for both teams, and the Saints have more experience in big games. Saints barely win. Final score: New Orleans Saints 24, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23.
Atlanta Falcons @ LA Rams. Jeff Fisher can build a defense. However, their offense lags far behind that defense in talent. They need more weapons to give Jared Goff a chance to succeed. Until they can put together an offense, they will struggle. Atlanta, on the other hand, is a complete team. Some solid talent on defense, and a solid offense. Given the balanced nature of Atlanta's roster, the Falcons win this week. Final score: Atlanta Falcons 28, LA Rams 14.
Seattle Seahawks @ Green Bay Packers. This is another game with some key playoff implications. This game could go either way; both of these teams are extremely talented, and the Packers have Lambeau's wintry conditions working in their favor. However, the Seahawks have been consistent throughout the season. This game is impossible to call, but I think Seattle wins this one on the road thanks to another Fail Mary. Final score: Seattle Seahawks 24, Green Bay Packers 20.
Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants .Eli Manning and the Giants like to show up in big games. Remember when they nearly knocked off the undefeated Patriots and then beat them in the Superbowl? A late season matchup between the Cowboys and Giants is always chaotic and crazy. That being said, I think the Giants take this one at home out in the cold. Giants win. Final score: New York Giants 27, Dallas Cowboys 14.
Baltimore Ravens @ New England Patriots. This should be a good game. One of the best defenses in the NFL facing off against Tom Brady and the Patriots minus Gronk? This will be a phenomenal matchup to watch. If Baltimore's defense shows up in full force, this will be a close game. However, I think Belichick and Brady keep things under control enough to win. Final score: New England Patriots 23, Baltimore Ravens 21.
