Week 17 of the NFL SEASON: Here it is everyone while the AFC is solved with exception to the seeding the NFC still has a spot on the line. Fighting for their playoff lives today are the Packers, Lions, Buccaneers, and Redskins. The Packers and Lions could both make it with some help. But anyway here is how I see this crazy week unfolding. Oh and Happy new year and Welcome to 2017. Have a safe holiday everyone.
Ravens @ Bengals: Both teams are out of the playoffs, the Ravens due to a heartbreaking loss on Christmas to the Steelers. The Bengals due to Marvin Lewis being their head coach. The Bengals would have loved to play spoiler for the Ravens if this game was meaningful for them but now that this game has no implications for the playoffs I think the Bengals coast for the better draft pick. Ravens win 20 – 17 over the Bengals.
Texans @ Titans: The Texans should rest most of their key starters this game at half time because they are automatically the 4 seed and will play the first game at home in the playoffs. They should let Tom Savage play all 4 quarters and honestly let the kid air it out. The Titans on the other hand were eliminated last week with a poor performance against the Jags and at this point should give Derrick Henry the majority of the carries so he can get some 1st team reps. Texans win 23 – 20 over the Titans.
Panthers @ Buccaneers: The Panthers are looking to play spoiler of their division rivals playoff hopes here. The Buccaneers MUST win and then they need help a lot of help. They would need the Skins to tie in their game against the Giants and the Packers to lose. The Buccaneers are a long shot but there is always hope in the NFL I guess. If the Buccaneers want to run the ball well, without Doug Martin they should get Russell Hansbrough a bunch of reps this week. Won’t matter in the end it is the end of the playoff hopes for the Buccaneers. Panthers win 27 – 23 over the Buccaneers.
Jaguars @ Colts: Another pointless game for 2 teams but I think it’s a coaching tryout for both teams. Pagano could be losing his job in Indy and Marrone could be earning himself a job if he impresses for a second straight week. Jaguars win 21 – 20 over the Colts.
Patriots @ Dolphins: This game is more important for the Patriots than it is the Dolphins. The Pats win this game they are the 1 seed through the playoffs they will get to play in Foxboro. The Dolphins get nothing with this win but momentum if they get it. They can’t advance to the 5 seed even with a Chiefs loss they would remain the 6 seed due to difficulty of schedule tie-breaker. I think we see Brady for 1 quarter and then they show off Jimmy G for trade purposes. Patriots win under Jimmy 30 – 24 over the Dolphins.
Bears @ Vikings: Well this game is entirely meaningless. It could also be the last game we see John Fox coach as a head coach for a few years as I expect him to get fired soon. The Vikings have imploded this season and I don’t see the final week of the season going much better for them. Bears win 23 – 17 over the Vikings.
Bills @ Jets: This game is another pointless game as the Bills have been eliminated but they did manage to fire Rex and Rob now they just need to fire their GM. Now the Jets are smart not to fire Bowels because he has become a good coach there is just not much talent in that system for him to work with. The Bills on the other hand are morons for possibly even letting Tyrod walk. Tyrod was the least of their worries this season. He needs a better WR corps and a better defense on the other side. I think Tyrod should remain with the Bills but if he is let go he gets a spot somewhere else. Bills win under their new coach 29 – 23 over the Jets.
Cowboys @ Eagles: This game has no playoff implications and for the Eagles it could be good for their draft pick spot if they lose this one too. The Cowboys are absolutely stupid if they sit Dak the whole game and they are even dumber if they don’t let Romo play 3 quarters. Romo is probably leaving the team via a trade so why not show off what he still has left and play him. I don’t get why they would consider Mark Sanchez because it gets them no value. Dumb move Dallas. Philly on the other hand is just playing to try and get another win over a division rival or go for the draft pick. I am not sure yet where Philly will go with this one. Cowboys win with their run game even with McFadden and Morris at RB 27 – 25 over the Eagles.
Browns @ Steelers: This game has no meaning for either team except maybe draft pick implications for the Browns as they could remain the number 1 pick if they lose this game. The Steelers on the other hand can’t move up in seeding or down with a win or loss so I expect them to rest Bell, Brown, and Big Ben for all of if not most of the game. I think regardless of who is starting for Pittsburgh they reward the Browns with the 1st pick in the 2017 draft. Steelers win 20 – 13 over the Browns.
Saints @ Falcons: The Saints are here to play spoiler of the Falcons hopes for the 2 seed. If the Falcons can pull off this win they are going to have a bye week and be the 2 seed. I think the Falcons are being under looked because of their defense. Their defense is young and has showed maturity as the season has gone along and have gotten better. I personally believe they are not a team to overlook this post season. I like the idea of Sean Payton leaving the Saints this offseason as it could set us up for an interesting new coaching situation. Falcons win 34 – 30 over the Saints and Lock up the 2 seed.
Giants @ Redskins: The Giants are a good team and I think they can advance in the playoffs as long as Janoris Jenkins comes back healthy and Eli plays like Eli in the postseason. The Redskins are playing for their playoff lives in this one as of right now they are on the outside looking in. All the Skins need to clinch a playoff berth would be a win in this game and for the Packers and Lions to not finish in a tie. If that happens the will take the 6 seed in the NFC and Kirk Cousins ability on offense could burn a lot of teams in the postseason. Redskins win 26 – 21 over the Giants, We could see Nassib come it at QB for the Giants.
Cardinals @ Rams: This game has absolutely no implication for anything playoff related and I expect both teams to play each other hard as it is a divisional rivalry. The Rams just hope to see positive things out of Goff and the Cardinals just need to play Cardinal football. Get JJ Nelson involved more and they could see a bright future. Cardinals win 28 – 22 over the Rams.
Raiders @ Broncos: The Raiders will be seeing what Matt McGloin can do in this game and maybe get a glimpse into their playoff hopes. If they can win this game they will lock of the division and the 2 seed. They can win the one seed if they win and the Patriots lose. If the Raiders lose though and the Chiefs win they could go from being the 2 seed to the 5 seed. The Broncos are bad offensively and their defense is tired from being on the field so much this season. The Broncos should give Paxton more playing time and just finally cut the ties with the Trevor Siemian as their starter. I think McGloin shocks people and pulls off the win. Raiders win 21 – 17 over the Broncos.
Chiefs @ Chargers: The Chiefs are coming out and playing hard for their hopes of a division title and the 2 seed in this division. They do need the Broncos to beat the Raiders without Carr as their QB. The Chiefs need to get the ball to Tyreek Hill a lot more in this game and week 17 as well. The Chargers have been a pick of mine since the year began but I am going to break a 16 week trend and take the Chiefs because they are the 2nd best AFC team if you ask me now. Chiefs win 30 – 26 over the Chargers.
Seahawks @ 49ers: The Seahawks can win the 2 seed if they win and the Falcons lose. The other team in this game is the 49ers. They are useless. Seahawks win 37 – 12 over the 49ers.
SNF 8:30 PM/ET:
Packers @ Lions: Packers are the hottest team in the league there is no doubt about that. The Lions play the Packers better than most teams do and they normally keep their games close and gritty until the end. I am really excited for this game. Look I am a HUGE Packers fan since I was 4 years old I have had Packers jerseys. That doesn’t take away from my balanced thought for this game because I am terrified of this Detroit team, if Darius Slay is healthy that defense is insanely good. This game is intense and is going to come down to a final play I just feel it. But in the end I think Rodgers gets the job done when the pressure is on. Packers win 30 – 28 over the Lions.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts. I don't trust either of these teams, but Bortles finally showed up for Jacksonville. This game could go either way, but I'm going to (hesitantly) pick the Jaguars in what should be a sloppy game. Final score: Jacksonville Jaguars 14, Indianapolis Colts 7.
New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins. Bill Belichick plays to win the game, no matter what week it is. Don't count on the Patriots to throw away a game this week even though they're in the playoffs, especially against a divisional rival. Patriots win. Final score: New England Patriots 35, Miami Dolphins 24.
Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings. The Bears are finally playing good football, but it may be too late to save John Fox's job. Meanwhile, the Vikings are struggling down the stretch. Chicago wins to end the season. Final score: Chicago Bears 21, Minnesota Vikings 20.
Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers. This week, the Steelers are planning on resting their starters, and treating this game like a preseason game. That gives the Browns a chance. Still, I think the Steelers put starters in if there's any chance of losing this game to Cleveland at home. Steelers win. Final score: Pittsburgh Steelers 17, Cleveland Browns 14.
Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals. Both of these teams are out of the playoffs. However, Baltimore is playing like the better team even though Cincinnati has better depth. Therefore, Ravens win. Final score: Baltimore Ravens 24, Cincinnati Bengals 20.
Houston Texans @ Tennessee Titans. The Titans are a great team, but without Mariota, the team will struggle this week against Houston. Therefore, Texans win. Final score: Houston Texans 24, Tennessee Titans 14.
Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles. Dak Prescott in a cold weather game? He's a good young player but he's struggled in the cold so far this season. This week those struggles continue as the Eagles beat the Cowboys! Final score: Philadelphia Eagles 21, Dallas Cowboys 20.
Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Panthers are looking lost this season. The Buccaneers, however, look like a pretty good team. At home, I expect the Bucs to pull this game off. Final score: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27, Carolina Panthers 21.
Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets. This week the Boy-I-Love-Losing-Superbowls BILLS travel to New Jersey to face the Just-End-The-Season JETS. While the Bills are going through a coaching change and are starting EJ Manuel this week, I think Manuel shows why he was selected in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft and surprises a lot of people. Bills win. Final score: Buffalo Bills 37, New York Jets 17.
Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers. The Chargers are struggling right now, and the Chiefs are playing really good football. They continue to play good football this week, and win on the road in San Diego. Final score: Kansas Chiefs 27, San Diego Chargers 21.
New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons. This should be a great game. The Saints are dominant on offense, and the Falcons have a great team. However, Atlanta is the better team and is tough to beat at home. Therefore, Falcons win. Final score: Atlanta Falcons 35, New Orleans Saints 31.
Arizona Cardinals @ LA Rams. Nobody is giving the Rams a chance to win this game, but I think they have a chance. Playing at home and attempting to build something positive for next season, I think they just might sneak out a win in a defensive matchup. Final score: LA Rams 9, Arizona Cardinals 5.
New York Giants @ Washington Redskins. The Giants are a weird team to watch this late in the season. Every year, we see a game late in the season in the NFC East shake up the division. That being said, I also think that the Giants are a better team than the Redskins. They should take this one on the road. Final score: New York/Jersey Giants 24, Washington Redskins 21.
Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos. This week, both the Raiders and Broncos will likely start their backup quarterbacks. Paxton Lynch has tons of potential, but the Raiders offense has enough firepower to make Matt McGloin look decent. Raiders squeak out a win in this one. Final score: Oakland Raiders 24, Denver Broncos 21.
Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers. This week, the Seattle Seahawks face the San Francisco 49ers. Final score: Seattle Seahawks 66, San Francisco 49ers 6.
Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions. This is when the Packers like to shine. They're playing for a divisional title, with the winner of this game winning the NFC North. Green Bay is used to shining in games like this, and they will continue that streak this week against the Lions. Final score: Green Bay Packers 24, Detroit Lions 17.
