With Shogun forced to withdraw from his upcoming matchup, Yushin Okami has stepped in to face Ovince St Preux this weekend at Fight Night Japan.
The UFC has been notified of a violation of the USADA doping policy by Carlos Felipe. The sample was an out of competition sample taken back in the end of July. Since it's an out of competition sample, the USADA will handle the results and issue the punishment. He has been pulled from his upcoming fight in October and they are looking for a replacement.
The USADA has issued a one year sanction for Nick Roehrick's violation. The period of ineligibility began on August 17.
Matt Brown has announced that it will be his last fight when he faces Diego Sanchez on November 11.
In December, the UFC will be making its debut in Fresno, California. The event will be a Fox Sports 1 Fight Night.
In what I see as the most important news of the week, Derrick Lewis has been out in his hometown of Houston help flood victims. According to reports, the police have been telling people not to call unless it is a life or death situation so Lewis took it upon himself to help others. He added that he has an in-home gym so he isn't worried about his weight for his upcoming fight.
Unfortunately, Germaine de Randamie backed out of her fight on ten days notice with a hand injury. Marion Reneau wasn't looking to back out of this fight and has been told that she is facing Talita Bernardo in her UFC debut.
The UFC announced that the Interim title fight between Tony Ferguson vs Kevin Lee will be the main event for the UFC 216 card. We knew about this fight previously, but they are now locking it in as the headline for the night.
Five more fights have been added to UFC Fight Night: Machida vs Brunson. After his loss to the champ, Demain Maia will be in his hometown against #8 Colby Covington. Other fights include Deiveson Alcantara vs Jared Brooks, winner of Tuesday Night Contender Series, Boston Salmon against Agosto Mendes, TUF Brazil winner Antonio Carlos Junior vs Jack Hermansson and heavyweights Christian Colombo will face off against (for some reason) a currently unnamed Brazilian newcomer.
When UFC returns to The Garden on November 4, Bisping will defend his middlewight title against returning vet, Georges St-Pierre. Also on that card will finally be Garbrandt vs Dillashaw after being pushed back due to injury.
Another fight added to the Norfolk card is an absolute banger when Joe Lauzon squares off against Clay Guida.
This week with Conor: Practically as soon as his match with Mayweather was over, callouts came pouring in. Nate Diaz wants a third match because he knows that's the only way he will make the money he thinks he deserves. Conor responded by saying he would only do it if Nate dropped to 155. Khabib Nurmagomedov is calling out McGregor for a fight at UFC 219 in December, which is interesting because Ferguson is claiming that Khabib ducked Ferguson twice. While nothing even close to official has taken place, some fans are still holding out hope that the UFC will match McGregor up with Georges St-Pierre in a superfight. While I wouldn't be opposed to any of these ideas, I think there is no excuse or option except fighting the winner of the Ferguson/Lee fight. Either defend the belt or vacate it.
