NFL Standings and Record Predictions.
Playoff and Superbowl first then you can see how i came about that.
AFC: Steelers, Colts, Patriots, and Chargers. Wild Card going to Bengals and Chiefs.
NFC: Packers, Seahawks, Eagles, and Falcons. Wild Card going to Cardinals and Cowboys.
Superbowl L (50): Packers beat the Chargers.
Steelers (12-4) I originally thought that the Steelers would be a tough team to predict and a tough team to watch. Only due to the fact that their defense is definitely going to be suspect to say the least. Now that I have had more time to think and watch them during the preseason I truly believe I was wrong. I think the Steelers will win the division and be a team to be reckoned with because that offense can out score so many other offenses including all 3 other AFC North teams.
Bengals (11-5) I think the Bengals have a pretty interestingly tough schedule and could hit a few speed bumps. Now that being said I think they will win this division by holding a tie breaker over the Ravens. I think Dalton and AJ if he can stay healthy will be too much to go against this team. With the growing abilities of Jeremy Hill and Gio Bernard as the other head out of the backfield it will truly be fun to watch this team until they reach the playoffs where they seem to forget how to play football. I think it is going to be hard not to pick them make the wildcard spot in the playoffs.
Ravens (9-7) The Ravens gained a lot with the addition of Breshard Perriman and Waller at WR to replace Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones. Perriman is a freaky athlete with drops issues and Waller is a better option all around over Jacoby Jones, except returning kicks. The Ravens defense is a little worry some because they lost Haloti Ngata and Suggs is only getting older. This defense needs to learn how to stay healthy by that I truly mean my man Ladarius Webb must stay healthy and Jimmy Smith needs to continue to grow. The Ravens fans are going to have worries because it seems Webb is already beat up and Perriman is out for at least 8 games which could hurt Flacco’s performance a lot.
Browns (7-9) Looking through their schedule the Browns could truly lose 10 games or 11 but I think their incredibly well built defense will save them a couple times. They could be a better team if they addressed their much needed WR and QB issues. I think adding McCown and not giving Johnny Manziel a shot this year is going to mess them up even worse. I believe having nobody locked in as your QB can really mess up the whole team’s sense of leadership as well as confidence in the guy who you start each week. I think McCown proved last year in Tampa that he is not a true number one QB at all and he played the Falcons and Saints defense twice a year plus he had Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans at WR who are both better than any WR on the Browns roster this season. Browns fans better hope that their defense doesn’t get too beat up because let me tell you that offense is a big worry and could be in trouble if they don’t get any help.
Patriots (12-4): Well, well, well. Tom Brady is back after a stupid over-turned decision. I am tired of this guy being allowed to cheat or his head coach getting away with it honestly. That being said my call for the Patriots went up a little more than it originally was. I think having the commander of the offense back and a currently healthy Gronk and a healthy Eddelman this guy will be firing on all cylinders. Their questionable defense could be a worry but the “genius” is always finding ways to make them better than expected. I think they will win the division and walk into the playoffs seemingly unbothered.
Bills (10-6): I think the Bills with Tyrod Taylor will be a force to be reckoned with because in my eyes he is an above average QB and has all the skills in the world to be a franchise starter. He has to hope that his O-line and LeSean McCoy are able to help him out as well obviously. The thing that makes Tyrod special is this kid can run when there isn’t any options down the field instead of throwing it away or throwing an interception. My last point on my man Tyrod is that he can out run a lot of defensive players and easily out run lineman and linebackers which means once he turns the corner his opposing defenses better hope their corners and safeties are coming to help. This will be a fun season to watch with Tyrod, Sammy Watkins, LeSean McCoy, Charles Clay, Percy Harvin, and Robert Woods grow together.
Dolphins (9-7): The Dolphins are on the rise in a tough division. Ryan Tannehill is a good young QB with a lot of talent and he keeps growing and improving and will one day be an amazing star in the NFL if he continues the way he is. Thankfully the front office of the Dolphins didn’t listen to the sloppy analysis of Mel Kiper who said he thinks Tannehill is “overrated and overhyped” coming out of college. I think the loss of a cocky Mike Wallace will help that offense grow and become more efficient if possible. Their defense is going to be as always gritty and impressive. Now I have issues with the Dolphins because their running game is a tad suspect to say the least. I do not see Lamaar Miller as a top running back by any means and Jay Ajayi isn’t being given the right chance to take over as the number one because he can’t pass block which is a joke to me. Good luck to the Dolphins though this season because I do want to see Tannehill grow and become a steady force in the NFL.
Jets (7-9): This team with their new coach, Todd Bowles can finally start to move forward and hopefully he will finally give the reigns to one QB and let him build his confidence. Bowles will do an even better job with this defense than Rex Ryan did and will make this team a lot of fun to watch. The Jets got Brandon Marshall for basically a flat out robbery and will be huge to help their offense finally start moving forward. The additions to their running backs with Zac “attack” Stacy and Stevan Ridley should make them actually effective and could surprise everyone. I honestly see this team as a dark horse and could break .500 if Geno can really become something or Bryce Petty whichever QB deserves the job.
Colts (11-5): I could be like ESPN and just say Andrew Luck 4000 times but I am going to highlight other things here. They added Andre Johnson to their already interestingly talented WR corps and Dwayne Allen is seemingly a top 5 tight end possibly now in the league. Now along with the targets for Luck they added a beast in the backfield to help their terrible RB issues from last season, Mr. Frank Gore. This is huge for them because now their offense should be considered complete and ready to compete with the best of them. Their defense is going to be lack luster and in my eyes is a huge worry. I truly think yes they will win this division but that’s because the Texans don’t have a QB. This defense is the only reason I see them losing 5 games because Luck throw a lot of INTS and will be relying on his defense too much.
Texans (9-7): Maybe I believe in an old concept that defense leads to a better offense but this team man oh man their defense is scary. I really wish they would have addressed the no QB issue and even signed Matt Flynn to compete for the spot but if they can survive their QB issues they are extremely talented. They have Arian Foster running the ball and a young receiving corps. Their defense has the best player in the league with JJ Watt and they added Wilfork to go next to him which just makes this team 3 times scarier, personally I can’t wait to see this team perform this season and be the beast they can be. I think Hoyer is a bit weak at QB but I truly believe that he can do just enough to keep this team in games and win.
Jaguars (7-9): Blake Bortles is a very good young QB but with no O-line yet developed for him it will be another really rough season and possibly the last for head coach Gus Bradley. The defense I believe will be a solid top 15 defense in the NFL, I just wish their Dante Fowler JR. wasn’t injured this season for the year with a torn ACL. Now their addition of Julius Thomas is a great addition to go with their young upcoming WR corps. I think it’s ridiculous that Justin Blackmon is still suspended I truly wish I could see what he could do with this team now with their young QB and their awesome WR corps. That isn’t the case though and I think TJ Yeldon will surprise many and Bortles will still show growth if he isn’t murdered by lack of protection.
Titans (5-11): Welcome to the NFL Marcus Mariota, this season will be a lot of fun to watch. They have good targets for him at WR that will be able to help him grow and keep his confidence. The O-Line needs to continue to improve and the ground game has to find a way to be effective for once. The Titans need to develop and I think this season will be rough but it is far from time to panic. The defense will be there this year and it could get better in time and become something to fear. But either way Titan fans do not worry this season will be the last time for a while that I can see this team finishing under 500.
Chargers (12-4): The Chargers don’t have a tough schedule to say the least to start with. They don’t play the Broncos either time until after week 12 so Peyton will already be in cold weather games as well as beat up and tired so I truly believe the Chargers are the team to fear most. Phillip Rivers is a machine with great young WR’s like Kennan Allen and Malcom Floyd along with a developing o-line. I think that the Chargers downfall the past few years has been the lack of a ground game for the opposing defenses to focus on leaving their pass offense all they had to worry about. With the addition of Melvin Gordon their offense just got even more effective and is entirely why the Chargers could be the best team in the NFL this season. Time will tell to see if they turn out the way I see but unless they under preform they should at least finish with 12 wins.
Chiefs (10-6): The Chiefs are growing and Alex Smith now has a true top level receiving talent. They still have Jamaal Charles of course at running back which is automatically an amazing talent to have on your offense. Smith also has Travis Kelce to throw the ball to and this team is looking up on offense which is a nice thing to see after not throwing a touchdown for over a year to a WR. The defense is always going to be stout in Kansas City and will make a huge difference as the Chiefs will be battling tooth and nail with their division rivals.
Broncos (9-7): They are a worry just due to an aging injured QB at the helm to start with. Then you go to the RB squad where they have an injury prone CJ Anderson and fumble-rooski Ronnie Hillman. Peyton’s favorite career targets are the number one WR and a TE well they still have Demaryius but they lost Julius Thomas and that is a huge loss to a Peyton Manning offense. Their defense is pretty impressively built and I think Shane Ray is going to be a beautiful addition. I think for once a Peyton Manning team will be saved by a defense.
Raiders (7-9): Derek Carr had a pretty good rookie season last year that surprised many even the Raider faithful. I think Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree will only make him better. Those two as targets for Carr will help him develop and become a real threat in the NFL as time goes on. I think Latvius Murray at the RB spot will make this team even more dangerous behind Derek Carr, this offense could truly be something to fear sometime soon. Now the defense though could be something to fear all in its own especially with the continued growth of the beast Khalil Mack. We will see what becomes of the Raiders this season but I expect to see the improvement process begin now.
Packers (13-3): The Packers are going to be the best team in the NFL in my opinion. Their defense is continuing to grow and hopefully somehow get better without Tramon Williams while Sam Shields and Casey Hayward continue to grow and become monster corners. Clay Matthews will play in the middle still and keep the defense improving at stopping the run which is the one thing they have failed to do the past 3 years. Now as far as the offense goes I think Lacy is a top 2 RB in the NFL now and Rodgers is Rodgers even without a good tight end. Rodgers will be a beast even without Jordy Nelson because he has Randall Cobb, James Jones, Devante Adams, Ty Montgomery, and Jeff Janis.
Vikings (10-6): Yes I think the Vikings could be a playoff team. The reasoning for them being a winning team this year is simple AP is back and Bridgewater already improved apparently now you add the legit fear of a great run game they will be great. Now here is what it will take for the Vikings to get to the top two and be a playoff contender. The Vikings need to continue improving that defense which they are successfully doing through the draft. That being said they have the best secondary honestly in the NFL in my opinion. The last element for the Vikings is to get a running back in to replace AP and get more WR’s behind Mike Wallace worth mentioning. I wish I could see Bridgewater make the playoffs this year just because of how talented and exciting I think he is.
Lions (8-8): Yes I have the Lions finishing .500 I am not honestly impressed by any element on their team except the QB and top 2 WR’s. Stafford, Calvin, and Tate are looking like 3 people that need to carry a team in a division with two tough teams standing there with them. I just don’t trust Calvin to play all 16 games and I think Tate will fall off a little from last year. I like their running back situation in years to come having Abdullah and Zenner but they aren’t going to make much of a splash this year and think that will be a crucial position if they want to be successful.
Bears (5-11): The bears could be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. Cutler is a mess and the entire fan base and organization do not trust him at all entering this season. That alone is a confidence killer for a pretty dramatic and emotional player in a tough city to behave that way. The team’s defense is a complete mess probably bottom 4 this year and really doesn’t look like it is on the way to improve. The Bears added Kevin White though as the one positive to partner next to the young beast Alshon Jeffery giving Cutler two good targets at least. Kevin White sadly might not play this season at all with a shin injury. Sorry Bears fans you will be in the basement this year watching your bitter rivals go to the playoffs.
Eagles (11-5): The Eagles made a shocking move by getting Sam Bradford for Nick Foles and swapping picks. They also made things crazy when they traded LeSean McCoy for Kiki Alonso which was absolutely crazy and made this defense crazy exciting. The addition of Alonso will make this defense more elite and give them an automatic fast paced pass rush. Now I want Sam Bradford to stay healthy because nobody has been as big of a fan of this kid’s talent as I have and I really want to see him in a full 16 game season. IF Bradford can stay healthy he could prove that he is a top 10 QB in the NFL especially with this offense having Demarco Murray at RB and Matthews and Agholor out wide next to him. Watch out the rest of the NFC because this team could shock many if they can find a way to protect Bradford and keep him healthy.
Cowboys (10-6): The Cowboys have an amazing passing game and a middle level defense. Tony Romo is awesome and Dez is signed now and will be playing all year. But the reason I don’t think these guys can win the division and truly have issues getting to 10-6 is simple. WHO IS RUNNING THE BALL? Look Darren McFadden isn’t a number one or number two anymore. He won’t be healthy for more than probably 2 weeks and then you have Randle who I think should be the starter at RB. That being said I think Randle needs a committee and should be splitting carries but with a good RB who can stay healthy not Darren McFadden. I think Jerry Jones is a moron for letting this team start off the season with no running backs when they were so close last year, why go backwards?
Giants (8-8): The Giants had a nightmare season last year and look to get it all back on track. Through all the rough goings though they found a bright star in Odell Beckham Jr, this kid is a star. Now OBJ is called one of the best receivers but I do not believe he deserves that recognition this quick but let’s see where this goes. Now the forgotten factor at WR for the Giants is the beast himself that could be one of the best when healthy, Victor Cruz and I think the combination of the two will make them hard to stop. The running game is going to be a return of earth wind and fire if you ask me. The three backs this time are Rashad Jennings, Shane Vereen, and Andre Williams we shall see how that goes. Now the Giants defense is a bit shaky and is why I don’t see them being over .500 and truly believe that are going to have issues.
Redskins (5-11): Now who is this teams QB? I mean I know its RGIII and I 100% think that’s who it should be. The only issue is Gruden hasn’t shown him the trust he needs to gain his confidence and become a real threat. RGIII showed what he is really capable of his rookie season and I can’t stand all this talk about how he isn’t really a superstar but give him a chance get him some blocking and watch what happens. This doesn’t seem like is something the Redskins are going to do though so in my opinion they will be lucky to go 5-11 and their defense will be a huge reason for that.
Falcons (11-5): The Falcons are going to bounce back finally because why haven’t they been elite lately? They have Matty Ice, Roddy White, and Julio Jones that alone is incredible. They now added Tevin Coleman at running back to partner with Devante Freeman which is going to be a fun ground game to watch pound the ball up the middle. Defensively they are a little weak but with the rising superstar Desmond Trufant at corner. The Falcons just need to work on their o-line and defense if they both improve they will become super bowl talent. This should be fun to watch this season because this team has heart and young talent all along with a new great coach in Dan Quinn, good luck ATL.
Saints (8-8): The Saints have a good offense this year with an aging Drew Brees. The offense lost Jimmy Graham though and he was Brees’ friend and number one target throughout the years. Now they have no tight end really as a replacement it seems like it will be a committee which is an interesting strategy at tight end but I don’t see it being successful. The running game got stronger by showing Mark Ingram faith and getting CJ Spiller now on board makes them have a good option for Brees’ to hand the ball to. Now their defense is a completely different story because it is a nightmare probably a bottom 5 defense in the NFL and I think it will be why they struggle to get above .500.
Panthers (7-9): Well I thought maybe winning the division before Kelvin went down to a torn ACL. Now poor Cam Newton looks at his receiving corps and I feel like is crying already. He still has Olsen at tight end but other than that the offense is going to be in trouble, some serious trouble. I am giving them 7 wins because Cam is a play maker and will give them some wins along with his incredible defense. I really want to see this team reach their full potential and hope they can stay healthy next season.
Buccaneers (6-10): The Bucs are going to be interesting to watch because well simply they have Jameis Winston. They have targets for him in form of Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson which will be great for a rookie QB. Now the team needs to protect him and Doug Martin needs to return to the man he was his rookie season so all the pressure isn’t on Winston. The defense for the Bucs is middle level-ish and is a bit of a worry for the team I just think they have a few years of rebuilding left to go through before they become division contenders.
Seahawks (13-3): Seattle will as we all know be the defensive beast this team can be and always seems to be. We know how close to unbeatable they are at home with the 12th man behind them deafening their opponents. Now the ground game of this team as we know is Marshawn Lynch who will always be Marshawn Lynch with Turbin backing him up. The only issue they have had is their passing game but with the addition of Lockett in the draft and trading to get Jimmy Graham this offense will be complete. This team is going to be a superbowl talent team again and should be seen in the NFC championship quite honestly.
Cardinals (11-5): The Cardinals will finish second and look for a playoff spot for the second year in a row. They will use their incredibly talented defense that is way underrated by the media and the fans around the world and I truly believe they will continue to show why they shouldn’t be. The offense with Carson Palmer looked great last year but how healthy will Palmer be? Will he be able to start the season? These are questions I have to keep asking myself. The running game is still a little susceptible which worries me a bit and will need to be something they improve upon. Their passing game is going to be interesting to watch because they probably have the deepest WRs. They have Fitz, Floyd, John Brown, Jaron Brown, and JJ Nelson which is a stacked WR corps. Now this team has the talent to get back to the playoffs and I think should be there when the season is over.
Rams (9-7): The Rams are going to be more dangerous each year. Jeff Fisher has developed this team and now traded to get a QB he hopes isn’t really the next Sam Bradford. He did something I see as crazy and drafted Todd Gurley this year while you had Zac Stacy and Tre Mason, I never understood the logic there. But nonetheless Gurley if he gets healthy partnered with Tre Mason is a scary thought and should scare any defense they have to face. Now Foles at the helm with Brian Quick, Kenny Britt, Stedman Bailey, Jared Cook, and Tavon Austin to throw the ball too will be huge for Foles and give the Rams an explosive offense for once.
49ers (4-12): The Niners will get the first pick this year in the draft. Kaepernick is the worst starting QB in the NFL and in my opinion could lose his job to Gabbert if they would give him a chance. I think the Niners are a terrible team this year their defense basically retired and their team really retired in general it seems. A new head coach, a bad QB, a new defense basically, the losing of Frank Gore, the loss of Michael Crabtree who they replaced with dropsies expert Torrey Smith. This season will be a nightmare and I am calling it before anyone else will be because I see who they are and don’t kiss Kaepernick’s butt like everyone seems to. I truly see how bad this teams talent is outside Boldin and Davis this will be an interesting season for the 49ers nonetheless.
