Week 8 of the 2016 NFL Season is upon us! The Patriots are still undefeated. Who will join them? Can Zach Mettenberger lead the Titans to a victory this week? Which Houston team will win this week? The Houston Texans or the Tennessee (formerly known as Houston Oilers) TItans? How will Carson Palmer fare against the Cleveland Browns (a team he faced twice a year as a Bengal)? Will Vontaze Burfict return to play for Cincinnati this week? Will Big Ben be back for Pittsburgh? Will Dez Bryant be back on the field for Dallas this week? This should be a great week of football! Now for some picks.
Detroit Lions vs. Kansas City Chiefs. I keep trying to have faith in Detroit, but they disappoint me nearly every time. I'm going to stop being disappointed by Detroit. I'm picking the Chiefs to win this one. Both of these teams have issues, but the Chiefs seem to at least be able to win an occasional game. Chiefs win. (Watch the Lions win this week now). Final score: Chiefs 24, Lions 14.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are one of the best teams in football. The Buccaneers are in contention for the 1st overall pick in 2016. Falcons win. Final score: Falcons 35, Buccaneers 14.
Arizona Cardinals @ Cleveland Browns. Carson Palmer gets another chance to play the Browns. He did decently against them as a Bengal. With the Cardinals defense behind him, Palmer notches one more win over Cleveland onto his career record. Final score: Cardinals 45, Browns 28.
San Francisco 49ers @ St. Louis Rams. This is a rivalry game, but the 49ers don't have much going for them. In St. Louis, I expect the Rams to rely heavily on Todd Gurley and win this game. Final score: Rams 28, 49ers 21.
New York Giants @ New Orleans Saints. Two middling franchises finding their direction after a slow start, these teams are starting to look good. That being said, the Saints look better. Saints win. Final score: Saints 35, Giants 14.
Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears. You know what? I'm actually going to pick the Bears in this one. The Vikings offense has arrived, and should be able to exploit a weak Bears defense, but still. Chicago is at home and is playing better with Cutler under center. I know it's a risky pick, but I'm picking Chicago winning in a shootout. Final score: Bears 38, Vikings 35.
San Diego Chargers @ Baltimore Ravens. Can I get a pass on this game? Seriously, the Chargers are struggling to win games they should right now. The Ravens are also performance-challenged this season. I'm not sure who to pick this week, because this game could go either way. However, I'm going to give the Chargers the edge because Phillip Rivers is playing outstanding football right now. Sooner or later, that will pay off. Final score: Chargers 24, Ravens 23.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers. This is another difficult game to pick. The Bengals struggle historically in Pittsburgh. The Bengals are also 6-0 and facing a Steelers team who is just now getting Ben Roethlisberger back. This will be a big test for Cincinnati, and this game has legitimate and big implications when it comes to playoffs. I want to pick the Bengals this week, but Cincinnati could struggle this week. I'm going to go with Pittsburgh this week. Final score: Steelers 21, Bengals 20.
Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans. This game could help decide the #1 pick in the 2016 draft. Both of these teams are struggling right now. However, with Mariota out with an injury, the Titans are struggling more. Houston wins this one at home. Final score: Texans 23, Titans 21.
New York Jets @ Oakland Raiders. The Jets are on a tear right now and look like actual playoff contenders. The Raiders are improved as well, but the Jets are the better team. I think they win this game. Final score: Jets 28, Raiders 14.
Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys. Matt Cassell isn't the answer. Seahawks win. Final score: Seahawks 24, Cowboys 21.
Green Bay Packers @ Denver Broncos. This is a rare game. Two once-in-a-generation talents facing off against each other. Peyton Manning is in the twilight of his career. Aaron Rodgers is still at the top of his game. Rodgers is the difference in this matchup, and the Packers win. Final score: Packers 38, Broncos 17.
Indianapolis Colts @ Carolina Panthers. This is a tough game to pick. The Colts have the potential to be a dominant team but are struggling at times. The Panthers look weak on paper (especially with regards to offensive depth), but they're undefeated. That being said, I think the Panthers are the better team this week, and will win. Final score: Panthers 28, Colts 24.

Lions (1-6) @ Chiefs (2-5): Two teams with more talent than their records show and are in London to boot. This game is truly a tough one to call and I honestly don’t like either team’s situation as it seems both teams are losing in their own ways. The Chiefs can look good some days and then bad others but the Lions on the other hand just seem to turn it over or just shut it off too early. I am going KC here and think that they can pull this off somehow. Chiefs win 30 – 24 over the Lions.
Buccaneers (2-4) @ Falcons (6-1): The Falcons the past two weeks seemed to have lost their edge on offense regardless that Freeman is still charging down the field. I think this week at home against a terrible Buc’s team they should bounce back strong and look good now. The Bucs on the other hand are still trying to line up their young pieces and get a few more away from a good team. Falcons win 37 – 17 over the Buccaneers.
Cardinals (5-2) @ Browns (2-5): The Cardinals are coming into their third straight game against an NFC North team, 1-1 right now against them. The Cardinals are a very good team that just needs to keep this offense flying around the field and use their incredible defense to help win their games. The Browns have an injured McCown playing one of the most terrifying defenses in the NFL and man could they be in trouble. Cardinals win 34 – 20 over the Browns.
49ers (2-5) @ Rams (3-3): The Niners are flat out one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Rams are resurging finally and it is all on the back of a great head coach and Todd Gurley. Gurley is going absolutely have a field day this week and should obliterate the 49ers terrible defense. The Niners are a team with no QB, no dominant run game, no defense, no O-line, and no truly great TE anymore. This game could get ugly real fast and should stay that way. Rams win 42 – 17 over the 49ers.
Giants (4-3) @ Saints (3-4): Now this is intriguing the Saints have seemed to figure things out and the Giants on the other hand still look inconsistent. I like this matchup because its Eli vs Drew and Cooks vs. Odell Beckham. This game is going to be fun in New Orleans and we should see how fast paced these offenses get. Saints win 31 - 28 over the Giants.
Vikings (4-2) @ Bears (2-4): The Vikings are rolling and just waiting for the Packers to loosen their grip on the top of the division. The Bears on the other hand are hanging around the bottom of the NFL and with no Kevin White their offense lacks the punch he would have brought them this season. This game with the Vikings defense and the development of Bridgewater continuing to grow they could truly be a dominant team and unleash hell on the Bears this game. Vikings win 32 – 14 over the Bears.
Chargers (2-5) @ Ravens (1-6): This game means a lot to me because well quite honestly I will be at this game. I will be three rows off the field behind the Chargers bench at the 50 yard line. I will be having a good time at this game with a very special person. I think the Chargers offense is so explosive and just need to find a way to finish in the red zone. The Ravens are a team with no defense and their QB seems to be struggling to get on the same page with their new offensive coordinator. The Ravens play better at home than they do anywhere else but they are 0-2 this year at home and will be looking to satisfy the old faithful Raven fans. I really hope this game is an offensive showdown and I get to see Melvin Gordon get some time in this one because as a diehard Wisconsin badgers fan I truly will be excited for this game. Chargers win 38 – 33 over the Ravens.
Bengals (6-0) @ Steelers (4-3): This AFC North division rivalry is going to be fun. Andy Dalton and company are rolling and they are just on fire. The Steelers are trying to avoid falling to .500 and will be at home against a bitter rival. The Bengals might be getting Burfict back this week though I do expect it to be on a limited snap count but he alone makes a difference. I think the Steelers with Big Ben back possibly they would be lethal and too much for the Bengals, I am so torn in this one now that I know Ben will probably play. Steelers win 28 – 24 over the Bengals.
Titans (1-5) @ Texans (2-5): Here is a true game of the week LOL. Two teams looking to completely turn around their season and I am not sure which one is in a better situation. I think when it comes down to it though I am going to say that the Titans defense is better than Houston’s and the Titans offense might operate a tad better with the Texans loss of Arian Foster. I think Mariota-less the Titans could struggle then again so could the Texans with no real offense. I like the Titans defense better than the Texans offense so I am going to say defense wins this game. Titans win 17 – 13 over the Texans.
Jets (4-2) @ Raiders (3-3): This game could be fun as the Raiders are playing some good football especially compared to the past few seasons. The Jets are being run well and they seem to be on fire regardless of a tough loss against the Patriots. I like the Jets more in this one so I will take the Jets win 27 – 21 over the Raiders.
Seahawks (3-4) @ Cowboys (2-4): The Seahawks looked last week to have finally put it all together, then again that was against the 49ers. If that is the case though they would be untouchable now but I am not sure just yet what to believe. The Cowboys will be in trouble until Romo returns and that is just the blunt truth. I do not care that they are at home they will lose this one. Seahawks win 28 – 10 over the Cowboys.
Packers (6-0) @ Broncos (6-0): Oh here we go!!! The undefeated teams are going to collide and I truly believe one is a good bit better than the other. Yes the Packers are the better team but the Broncos are going to be at home where they are a tough team to play. The Packers have a better offense by leaps and bounds, they have a better head coach, and their QB is still in his best prime and is the better player right now. The Broncos have one plus over the Packers right now heading into this game and that is the play of their defense is just a little bit better than the Packers as of now. I truly believe the Packers are the overall better team heading into this game and will pick up a good win here on the road and show that they are the true team to beat in the NFC. Packers win 24 – 20 over the Broncos.
Colts (3-4) @ Panthers (6-0): I think this game is going to be an open and shut case. I am so far from impressed by the Colts this season. They look like they have no idea how to play football and you could be seeing the firing of Chuck Pagano when the year comes to the end. Panthers win 23 – 7 over the Colts.
