Week 4, 2015 NFL Season
The NFL is already in week 4 and the Patriots and Titans have drawn the first bye week. Last week we saw the return of Michael Vick as a starter while Big Ben heals up a bad knee. We also saw Colin Kaepernick throw for only 67 yards to his own offense, yet he managed to have his 4 ints returned for a total of 71 yards. That means last week we saw Kaepernick throw more yards to the defense of his opposing team than his own offense. Sadly for Ravens fans they saw their team fall to 0-3 for the first time in franchise history after a tough home loss to division the leading/rivals Cincinnati Bengals. Hold on to your butts this week should be fun.
1 PM ET:
Jets (2-1) @ Dolphins (1-2): The Jets got beat last week, it wasn’t really a close game either until the end when the Eagles seemed to put on the breaks late in the third quarter. The Dolphins on the other hand got clobbered at home against their division rival Bills. The Dolphins need to be worried because that game was at home and they seemed to have no defense for the second straight week. Now the Jets I truly believe are a better team than they showed last week and will be better than I thought they would this season. I really have a hard time believing Miami will stay as bad as they have looked the past two weeks and it makes this game harder than it should be to call honestly. That being said Jets win 27 – 23 over the Dolphins. In England.
Jaguars (1-2) @ Colts (1-2): Before the season started I would have easily said this game was going to Indy but the Colts look terrible. They have no defense at all and Andrew Luck looks like he doesn’t even belong in the conversation of top 15 QB in the NFL right now. Now the Jaguars did just get absolutely man handled by Tom Brady and co. in New England last week losing 51-17 so that might be a bit of a confidence killer for a young team. This is tough and I will say Colts win 31 – 26 over the Jaguars (Only because they are at home).
Giants (1-2) @ Bills (2-1): Short and Sweet. TYROD TAYLOR > Eli Manning. Bills Defense > Giants Defense. Bills win 37 – 20 over the Giants.
Panthers (3-0) @ Buccaneers (1-2): The Panthers are still undefeated and we all thought without Kelvin Benjamin they would be dead in the water. The defense is holding this team up and the ability of Cam Newton to still spread the ball to Olsen and Ted Ginn Jr. The Bucs had a bad week, a good week, and then a bad week following the pattern? I’m not they truly aren’t a good team and I don’t think they will win this one either. Panthers win 23 – 21 over the Buccaneers.
Eagles (1-2) @ Redskins (1-2): The Eagles looked like the Eagles this weekend. That being said the Eagles are a team who has the potential to be awesome if they can find some serious consistency. Now the Redskins are starting the wrong person at QB if you asked me and I think that is only part of their underlying issues. I am thinking at home the Skins might be a tad better just based off the way they played the Rams at home but I am going to take the Eagles win 24 – 16 over the Redskins.
Oakland (2-1) @ Bears (0-3): The Raiders have a winning record so that’s good. The Bears are tough 4-12 bound team but they do play hard. The only issue is that the Bears have Jimmy Clausen at QB if Cutler can’t go and he is worse than Colin Kaepernick if that is possible. The Raiders have happily seen Carr improve more this season and Cooper is who we thought he would be so this team has a truly bright future. Raiders win 28 – 7 over the Bears.
Texans (1-2) @ Falcons (3-0): The Texans are really struggling to find themselves and I really don’t see much hope for them in this one. The Falcons are what I hoped they would be, a top team in the NFL with the potential to go deep into the post season if they stay relatively healthy. Falcons win 37 – 21 over the Texans.
Chiefs (1-2) @ Bengals (3-0): The Chiefs are 1-2 but they could easily be 2-1 the only game they really got beat by a better team was against the Packers, because they beat themselves against the Broncos. The Bengals are seriously one of the best teams in the league and Dalton is actually looking like the QB the Bengals hoped he would be when they drafted him. Bengals win 30 – 24 over the Chiefs.
Browns (1-2) @ Chargers (1-2): As a fan I hate this game because I really have no idea what is wrong with the Chargers they have so much talent and look like they are one of the worst teams somehow. The Browns on the other hand are intentionally losing if you ask me because the Browns could win more games if they just started Johnny Manziel and stopped this joke of a thing called starting Josh McCown. So until they finally let us as fans get what we deserve, Johnny Manziel, then I will continue picking against them. Chargers win 27 – 13 over the Browns.
Packers (3-0) @ 49ers (1-2): Simple one here. Best QB in the NFL vs. the worst. Packers win 42 – 10 over the 49ers.
Rams (1-2) @ Cardinals (3-0): The Cardinals might honestly be the best team in the NFL I have a hard time debating between the Packers, Patriots, and the Cardinals. The Rams might be in trouble this season as there just seems to be something missing still and I believe it’s a true number one WR and a better QB would be nice. I think the Cardinals are too good to pick against here. Cardinal’s win 29 – 18 over the Rams.
Vikings (2-1) @ Broncos (3-0): I really wish this was a primetime game because this will be so much fun to watch. This has Peyton and the overrated lack of a true offense of the Broncos who have a very underrated defense. It truly is the media’s fault that their defense is so underappreciated because all they want to talk about is Peyton, Peyton, Peyton and more Peyton and it has gotten annoying. Now the Broncos great run defense has their hands full here against AP and a mobile Teddy Bridgewater. Vikings on the other hand have exactly what I just mentioned AP and Teddy Bridgewater and are going somewhere fast. The Vikings defense has one of the best secondary’s in the NFL and will be a primary reason for winning this game if they do. I think this one is really tough to call honestly it is my favorite game of the week. I think the Broncos fail their first true test and lose this thing sorry Peyton obsessed fans. Vikings win 17 – 14 over the Broncos.
Cowboys (2-1) @ Saints (0-3): The Cowboys are a team without their QB and trusting Weeden is a bad idea. The O-line for the Cowboys is the best I have ever seen and their RB’s are benefiting from that. The Saints are struggling to put their pieces together and will need to fast because they are in danger of falling to 0-4 here. Cowboys win 31 – 28 over the Saints.
Lions (0-3) @ Seahawks (1-2): The Seahawks are back!!!! That is bad news for the NFL teams and worse news for the Lions because they are trying to avoid going 0-4. With Kam Chancellor back and in Seattle that is even worse news for the Lions who can’t seem to figure out what they are doing. Now the Lions want to fix their offense or lack of one. They should get Joquie Bell out of their rotation and give preseason sensation Zach Zenner a chance to prove why he could be a beast especially partnered with Ameer Abdullah. That would make their running game an actual legit threat and then you would be able to pass better as a defense can’t focus most their energy on Stafford and Calvin. I think they will be absolutely lost in Seattle and this game should be terrible for the Lions as they will fall to 0-4. Seahawks win 34 – 17 over the Lions.
Matt Koontz (30-18)
New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins @ London. This game is tough to call. The Dolphins have the pieces to be a decent team, but are struggling to find an identity. If they figure out who they are, they could be tough to beat. However, I expect them to struggle against a Jets team that has looked surprisingly competitive so far this season. New York Jets win this game. Final score: Jets 21, Dolphins 12.
Houston Texans @ Atlanta Falcons. I've been on the Houston bandwagon so far this year, but Atlanta is looking great so far this year. The Falcons are 3-0 and the Texans are 1-2. That being said, Houston is finally getting healthy, and Atlanta had some rough points in last week's win over the Cowboys. Still, the Falcons are at home, and that gives them the edge they need to pull this one out. Falcons win in a close one. Final score: Falcons 24, Texans 22.
Oakland Raiders @ Chicago Bears. I want to give this one to the Bears but I just can't. The Raiders are finally starting to find an identity, and Chicago's still a wreck. This is a team already in rebuilding mode, and are likely to struggle again this week. Final score: Raiders 30, Bears 24.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts. The Jaguars have some good pieces in place, and are a better team than they looked like last week. The Colts are struggling, and Matt Hasselbeck may start in place of an injured Andrew Luck. Indy wants the ball, and they will score against the Jaguars. It won't be much, but it will be enough to win. Final score: Colts 21, Jaguars 20.
Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is a game I'm just not sure how to approach. The Buccaneers show shades of being a competitive team, and also have weeks where they are terrible. The Panthers look like a more complete team, even though they lack WRs. This game could easily go either way, but I think the Panthers are slightly better and pull it out. Final score: Panthers 24, Buccaneers 21.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Cincinnati Bengals. As a Bengals fan, this game makes me groan a bit because this is the type of game that Cincinnati loves to blow. That being said, even though I'm nervous about Cincinnati and not getting my hopes up too much, the fact that this game is not in prime time is enough for me to give Cincinnati the edge here. They are the all-around better team, and are playing at home. Andy Dalton has finally found his stride, and the Bengals defense is back in form. Cincinnati rolls. Final score: Bengals 24, Chiefs 23.
New York Giants @ Buffalo Bills. This should be a pretty close game. The Giants have played close games all season and are a few plays away from being 3-0. The Bills have shown flashes of dominance, but those flashes are separated by streaks of inconsistency. This game will be close, and could go either way. I'm going to go with the Giants on this one though, especially with LeSean McCoy unlikely to play. Final score: Giants 22, Bills 21.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins. As much as I don't buy into the hype surrounding the (overhyped) Chip Kelly system, I do think that the Eagles are capable of defeating inferior teams. The Washington Redskins are one such team. The Redskins are terrible, and the Eagles should be able to put this one in the bag. Final score: Eagles 33, Redskins 14.
Cleveland Browns @ San Diego Chargers. The Cleveland Browns are still a factory of sadness, but they are no longer the worst team in the AFC North. That honor goes to the original Cleveland Browns (i.e. the Ravens), who just got their first win of the season. The Browns are a different team when Johnny Manziel plays, and should start him. However, they stick by Josh McCown against a San Diego Chargers team that is playing far below their ability, and the Chargers take care of business. Final score: Chargers 24, Browns 14.
St. Louis Rams @ Arizona Cardinals. Can anybody slow down one of the hottest offenses in football? If anyone can, it's the St. Louis defense. The Rams are still playing inconsistently on offense, but their defense has played lights-out. The Cardinals, however, are the more complete team in this matchup, and they will win this game. Final score: Cardinals 28, Rams 21.
Minnesota Vikings @ Denver Broncos. This should be the game of the week. Minnesota is doing surprisingly well this season, and should compete against the Broncos. However, Denver is at home and Peyton has finally found himself it seems. I think the Broncos win this one, barely. Final score: Broncos 22, Vikings 21.
Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers' year is done as they compete with the Chicago Bears for the first overall pick in 2016. Green Bay is marching towards another playoff appearance. Both teams win, as the Packers defeat the 49ers handily. Final score: Packers 38, 49ers 10.
Dallas Cowboys @ New Orleans Saints. Drew Brees is back in action and ready to face Brandon Weeden and the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas looked like a playoff team before the season began. Now, following a barrage of injuries, they'll be lucky to finish the year. The Saints are far healthier, and they win this game. Final score: Saints 38, Cowboys 33.
Detroit Lions @ Seattle Seahawks. The Lions are struggling so far this season. Right now, Marshawn Lynch is struggling to be ready for the game Monday night. If Lynch is unable to play, undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls is ready to slide in in his place. He played last week to cover for an injured Lynch and went for over 100 yards. He won't have an issue this week. The Lions are also dealing with running back injuries, with Joique Bell ruled out for this week. Undrafted rookie Zach Zenner should see some extensive action this week, and I expect him to impress, even if Ameer Abdullah remains the #1 back. That being said, Seattle is the better team, and now that Kam Chancellor is back, this defense is firing on all cylinders. Seahawks win. Final score: Seahawks 24, Lions 17.

Jets vs Dolphins @ Wembley Stadium - This is a tough game to call. Due to this game being played in England, this game could go either way. Its hard to say which team will adapt better to playing so far from home. I'm going to go with the Jets due to their strong defense. Jets win in England, 20-17.
Texans @ Falcons - Falcons are going to win this one at home, 30-17.
Giants @ Bills - Bills are a strong team, and they're playing at home. Bills win at home, 28-13.
Raiders @ Bears - The Raiders aren't the best team out there, but the Bears are one of the worst. Raiders win, 27-9.
