Week 10 in the NFL: Week 9 in the NFL is gone so the weeks with 6 team bye weeks are finally over. The Browns are still winless as we head into the week, writing this on Wednesday so no Thursday game result yet. We did have another OT game last week but that one was decided on the play of the year by Golden Tate and was a first drive finale. This week the 4 teams taking a week off are the Colts, The Bills, the Lions, and the Raiders. This is an interesting group because 3 of those 4 teams are coming off impressive wins and will hope the bye doesn’t slow down their momentum. Here comes my week 10 predictions.
Packers (4-4) @ Titans (4-5): The Packers and Titans are both trying to find themselves right now. They are both good enough teams to battle for the division title in their respective decisions because their division is struggling all around. The difference is the Titans would be a pleasant surprise if they won the division and the Packers missing the playoffs would be shocking. This game is going to be rough to watch as both defenses struggled last week and probably will this week. I think the Packers will pick up the win this weekend and get back on track. Packers win 31 – 26 over the Titans.
Vikings (5-3) @ Redskins (4-3-1): The Vikings have been flat and terrible ever since their bye week and I am far from convinced they will turn it around. Their offense is weak and they don’t have the skills they require to survive in the NFL. The Vikings defense is worn out and tired they need that offense to find momentum and keep them off the field somehow this weekend. The Redskins are looking to pick up a win at home this weekend with their offense and average defense. I think this game will come down to the simple question, can Cousins move the ball against the Vikings defense? If so Skins win. I think he does and Redskins win 24 – 20 over the Vikings.
Bears (2-6) @ Buccaneers (3-5): This game should be interesting between two offenses that can move the ball and the defenses that can’t stop the opposing team. If Cutler can play like a top 20 QB and Winston can play like he has the talent to, this game could be an explosive warfare. I think Jordan Howard is going to be the difference maker in this game. I have to stick with the road team in this one because I think their defense is going to out edge the Buccaneers defense and pick up the win. Bears win 27 – 24 over the Buccaneers.
Chiefs (6-2) @ Panthers (3-5): The Chiefs are incredible this year and have proven why Andy Reid might be worthy of the AFC West title and coach of the year. They have an incredible defense and could dominate the game because their offense can keep possession when they are on the field. The Panthers are a bad team not as great as everyone wants to deem them as. They struggled against the Rams mediocre defense and would be in trouble against the Chiefs defense. Alex Smith is back and should help his team wind up playoff bound. Chiefs win 30 – 23 over the Panthers.
Falcons (6-3) @ Eagles (4-4): The Falcons offense is terrifying and is doing enough to make their weak defense a non-factor when it comes to their performance. They could honestly be Super Bowl bound and Matt Ryan should be a top 3 MVP candidate. The Eagles started so hot but have been mediocre since they had their bye week and their losses to Dallas and the Giants in back to back weeks have them in trouble in a divisional race. This game is a toss-up because this defense in Philly is a decent one and the Falcons offense is top of the line. Falcons win 31 – 28 over the Eagles.
Rams (3-5) @ Jets (3-6): The Rams and the Jets are similar as in that we expected both teams at the beginning of the year to be in the race for the playoffs. The Rams defense is okay which is shocking because they have Jeff Fisher and Mike Singletary and Greg Williams in their staff. The Rams offense is atrocious and they need to find a way to get it rolling or they will be dead in the water. I think personally it is time to unleash their first round pick and get the ball moving under Goff. Show us the future Jeff. The Jets are again similar as in their defense is okay which is once again confusing considering Todd Bowles and Kacy Rodgers are part of this teams staff. Their offense is weak under Fitz and they need to finally trust their 2 young QB’s to play offense, there is a reason they drafted them. They need to test their future and give Petty or Hackenberg a chance to see where their future is truly headed. Rams win 21 – 20 over the Jets. Fitz throws 3 INT’s and that makes the difference.
Broncos (6-3) @ Saints (4-4): The Broncos offense is terrible and it needs to find a true way to consistently move the ball. The Saints offense on the other hand is the second hottest in the league behind Atlanta and they could put themselves out of reach for Denver to keep pace. The Saints defense is pretty bad and they will need to play better if they want to give their team a chance because the defense of the Broncos will slow down the Saints offense. This game is a real toss up and I am not quite sure who I have favorited. Saints win 26 – 23 over the Broncos.
Texans (5-3) @ Jaguars (2-6): If the Texans don’t come off the bye week with an offense that can actually operate they are going to be in trouble. They need Will Fuller to get back involved in this offense because he is a huge game changer and they could really be carried by him. The Jaguars need Bortles and Allen Robinson to get on the same page and really find a way to hook up more and lead the team. They can’t do that than they are better off assuming they will be a bottom team in the NFL. I think this game should be interesting but I think the Texans defense can slow down the Jaguars. Texans win 30 – 22 over the Jaguars.
Dolphins (4-4) @ Chargers (4-5): The Chargers should keep their head down and just keep their dominating offense on the field and hope they stay healthy. I think if their defense can step up and slow down the run they could dominate this game. The Dolphins offense could move the ball with how beat up the Chargers defense is and this game could be an offensive showdown. I have picked San Diego each week and I will once again continue that trend this week. Chargers win 32 – 26 over the Dolphins.
Cowboys (7-1) @ Steelers (4-4): I picked the Browns to win against the Cowboys last week and that’s the truth but that was only because I worried about them without Claiborne. They are somehow the underdogs in this game with the Steelers and that makes no sense. The Steelers defense is bad and their offense can’t find a way to be consistent weekly. The Steelers better turn this ship around or they will lose Tomlin and their playoff hopes. I am going to stick with the hottest team in the league and their ground game. Cowboys win 35 – 27 over the Steelers.
49ers (1-7) @ Cardinals (3-4-1): The 49ers offense did a lot last week but that was against a bad defense this week we will see how terrible Kaepernick and this offense really are. The Cardinals offense needs to re-find itself and they need to hope they did so during the bye week. The Cardinals defense is good and the offense can be great if they preform top level. I think this game will be funny because it should be a landslide. Cardinals win 45 – 16 over the 49ers.
SNF (8:30 PM/ET):
Seahawks (5-2-1) @ Patriots (7-1): This game is so interesting. The Seahawks offense looks to have finally woken up but their defense slept last week. Then again I believe it could be the Tyrod effect. He is so hard to stop and predict that he holds all defenses struggling to find solutions for him. The Patriots are so well disciplined and their offense is incredibly hard to stop. Their defense is okay and they will be the X-factor, I am not sure how they will function after the bye week and I believe that is the real test this weekend. I think this could be a game of the year candidate and we should see how much these teams live to their potentials. Patriots win 30 – 28 over the Seahawks.
MNF (8:30 PM/ET):
Bengals (3-4-1) @ Giants (5-3): The Bengals are rough because they are simply the most unpredictable team in the NFL. Marvin Lewis should move to GM and let someone else coach this team because he can’t coach them to the playoff position they should be in already. The Giants offense is lethal if you consider the fact that they can’t run the ball at all yet they are still moving the ball and putting up points. This game is going to be interesting to say the least and I know our writer Mike Bertasso won’t be sleeping Sunday night because his Bengals are able to take a playoff run if they can just win the games they should. The Bengals need help on defense to find consistency but their offense can find its rhythm if Eifert can stay healthy. [updated to Giants win 1:30 Monday afternoon] Giants win 32 – 29 over the Bengals in the Meadowlands.

Green Bay Packers @ Tennessee Titans. Mike McCarthy might be coaching for his job at this point. Let that thought sink in for a moment. That makes this game a must-win for McCarthy and the Packers. Against the Titans, that makes this an extremely winnable game. Packers win this one. Final score: Green Bay Packers 24, Tennessee Titans 17.
LA Rams @ New York Jets. I don't trust either of these teams right now. I'd put this down as the NFL's third tie of the 2016 NFL season but that's statistically improbable. The Rams started out strong, but I don't trust Keenum at this point. Jets should squeak by in this one. Jets win. [UPDATE: Jets have named Bryce Petty the starter for today's game. I think that gives the Rams the edge]. Final score: LA Rams 21, New York Jets 20.
Denver Broncos @ New Orleans Saints. The Broncos haven't had a bad season, but the Saints are playing solid football right now. The Broncos still have to figure out some type of consistency under center. Brees and the Saints win in a close one. Final score: New Orleans Saints 27, Denver Broncos 24.
Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars. As much as I want to believe in Jacksonville, I can't. The Texans will be way too much for Jacksonville to handle. Texans win, as Jacksonville plays from behind. Final score: Houston Texans 28, Jacksonville Jaguars 24.
Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins. Two former Cincinnati Bengals coordinators face off as former DC Mike Zimmer travels to Washington to take on former OC Jay Gruden. This should be a close game, but the Vikings are stumbling right now. The Redskins could take this one. I think they do. Final score: Washington Redskins 20, Minnesota Vikings 17.
Chicago Bears @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I think the Bucs are a much better team than most people think right now. The Bears are improving, but not enough to beat Tampa on the road. Bucs win. Final score: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24, Chicago Bears 14.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Carolina Panthers. This is going to be a great game. While many experts expect the Panthers to win this one easily, I'm not so sure. The Panthers are great at home generally, but the Chiefs have put together a great season so far. I think the Chiefs could win this one. Final score: Kansas City Chiefs 21, Carolina Panthers 14.
Atlanta Falcons @ Philadelphia Eagles. The Falcons are looking like a playoff team this year. The Eagles look good too, but the Falcons are tough to beat right now. I think Atlanta wins this one on the road. Final score: Atlanta Falcons 35, Philadelphia Eagles 28.
Miami Dolphins @ San Diego Chargers. I have no faith in Miami right now. San Diego, however, is inspiring faith. I think the Chargers win this one at home. Final score: San Diego Chargers 24, Miami Dolphins 10.
Dallas Cowboys @ Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers need to win this game. That being said, Dak Prescott has had a great year so far as a rookie, and Ben Roethlisberger is again hobbled with injuries (although he will play). Who will win this game? I think Roethlisberger and the Steelers pull this one off, showing that Ben might have a few big rallies left in him. Final score: Pittsburgh Steelers 24, Dallas Cowboys 23.
San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals. Even after electing a new president, I still can't stand with a team who's quarterback can't stand for the national anthem. Cardinals win. Final score: Arizona Cardinals 35, San Francisco 49ers 14.
Seattle Seahawks @ New England Patriots. The Seahawks travel to New England to face the Patriots in a Superbowl rematch of epic proportions. Even if Pete Carroll rushes the ball when he's supposed to, the Patriots might be too good for the Seahawks to handle, especially in New England. Patriots win. Final score: New England Patriots 28, Seattle Seahawks 24.
Cincinnati Bengals @ New York Giants. I'm a huge Bengals fan, but am always wary of Marvin Lewis in prime time games. The Bengals haven't looked bad in the spotlight so far this season, but they're due for a prime time implosion on Monday night. That being said, I've gone with my head already this season and picked against Cincinnati in prime time and they've surprised me. I'm going to go with my heart this time and hope that Lewis has finally figured out big games. Bengals win this game barely. [UPDATE: My heart is being overpowered by my brain, and by the fact that the Bengals struggle against the pass. I think the Giants ultimately win this one. Updated 1:30 Monday afternoon.] Final score: New York Giants 21, Cincinnati Bengals 20.

Packers @ Titans: Green Bay is the stronger team here, hands down. My Prediction: Packers win, 23-17.
Vikings @ Redskins: The Vikings desperately need to win this game. They're on a 3 game losing streak, and need this to bounce back. My Prediction: Vikings win, 17-16.
Bears @ Bucs: Both teams are performing very similarly offensively, but the Bears have a much better defense. My Prediction: Chicago wins, 24-13.
Chiefs @ Panthers: The Chiefs have been a little inconsistent, but have been winning games. My Prediction: Chiefs win, 23-14.
Falcons @ Eagles: I know for a fact that I've jumped on the Falcons bandwagon this year. They are very dominant, and very entertaining to watch. They've lost some close games, but the Falcons are still playing amazing offensively. My Prediction: Falcons win, 34-20.
Rams @ Jets: To me, this is a tough game to call. The Jets have the potential to play well as long as Fitzpatrick can avoid throwing interceptions. My Prediction: Jets win, 17-13.
Broncos @ Saints: The Saints have the #1 offense in the NFL right now, and the Broncos offense is a joke. My Prediction: Saints win, 42-23.
Texans @ Jaguars: Until Houston drops their joke of a QB, they can't win a game. My Prediction: Jaguars win, 16-13.
Dolphins @ Chargers: The Chargers are the better team here. Their key to winning the game is to prevent Miami from running the ball too much. My Prediction: Chargers win, 27-20.
Cowboys @ Steelers: The Steelers have struggled a lot this year, and the Cowboys are on a roll. My Prediction: Cowboys win, 28-13.
49ers @ Cardinals: Is this even a game? My Prediction: Cardinals win, 62-3.
Seahawks @ Patriots: I can't pick against the Patriots unless they give me a reason to. My Prediction: Patriots win, 24-13.
Bengals @ Giants: I don't really know what to say for this game. My Prediction: Bengals win, 23-20.
