NFL Week 13: The bye weeks are over, so we are back to 15 games a week which is exciting for all of us fans. I am going to try something different this week instead of my analysis and comments on each game I am going to pick my fantasy must start, sleeper, and avoided player in each match and a small analysis.
Ravens (6-5) @ Falcons (4-7): My must start is Lamar Jackson as I believe the Falcons bad run and pass defense will be great for him. My sleeper pick for this game is Gus Edwards if you can call him that, because the Falcons run defense is bad with Deion Jones still out and he will feast. I believe the player to avoid in this matchup is Calvin Ridley as the Ravens defense should do a good job shutting down the pass game and the number 2 option might see the effect of it the most. This game will be a game of offense vs defense. I personally love defense and believe it wins games, so I am going to take the top defense in the league regardless of how bad they are on the road under Harbaugh. Ravens 23 – Falcons 21.
Panthers (6-5) @ Buccaneers (4-7): Must start player is easily Christian McCaffery and Mike Evans as they both seem too good to not include. The sleeper pick in this matchup though is DJ Moore if we can call him that as he should torch the Bucs defense. A player I am worried about starting in this matchup is Winston this weekend as I feel he has a struggle game coming. The Panthers have started to skid, and the Buccaneers have started to show some life with Winston back behind the center, so this could be a better game that we would have expected to see 3 weeks ago. I believe the Panthers rally from a 10-point deficit in this one and pull off a much-needed win. Panthers 30 – Buccaneers 28. – Matt
Bears (8-3) @ Giants (3-8): My must start player of this one is actually tough because of the Bears defense, but I can’t pick against Saquon Barkley. Sleeper pick in this game for me is honestly Chase Daniel as I believe he is going to attack this defense with another week behind the first team reps. There are two players I would actually sit entering this week in this game and they are both big names, A-Rob is one and the other is surprisingly OBJ as I think the Bears will shut him down. The Bears defense continues to WOW me, and I believe they are one of the most dangerous teams in the league because of that defense. The Giants have cost themselves a handful of games this year and last week was a perfect example of that. Barkley has done nothing but prove that they have a future though and he is a true super star. Giants are just going to find a way to pull off a major upset. Giants 29 - Bears 26 – Matt
Bills (4-7) @ Dolphins (5-6): This game is tough for me to pick a must start but if you are hurting and in a dire need, I would start LeSean McCoy as my must start. My sleeper pick for this game does excite me though as it is rookie WR, Robert Foster as he has shown some good life lately. The player to avoid is a trio of names in this one, Tannehill, Gore, and Drake as that Bills defense is N-A-S-T-Y. I think this game is going to show us more of Josh Allen’s young developing talent and the Bills defense will get them through this. Bills 20 – Dolphins 13. – Matt
Colts (6-5) @ Jaguars (3-8): Andrew Luck simply a guarantee must start but so is Eric Ebron, do not hesitate him into your lineup. He is now my #2 tight end this week. The player I would call a sleeper pick this week Donte Moncrief as I believe he will put up some nice numbers against his former team. The player I am avoiding in this matchup is Carlos Hyde as I believe he will struggle in place of Fournette this weekend. This game analysis is simple. There is something wrong with the Jaguars and the Colts are rolling. I am excited to see Cody Kessler in for the Jaguars this weekend, but still Colts will win this one. Colts 27 – Jaguars 20. – Matt
Browns (4-6-1) @ Texans (8-3): There are too many must start to limit it to one so here are the names for you; DeAndre Hopkins, Lamar Miller, DeShaun Watson, and Nick Chubb. My sleeper in this game is Keke Coutee as I am expecting an 80-yard game from him with a TD. The player I am avoiding in this one is Baker Mayfield as I feel this Texans pass rush and overall coverage defense will be too much for him. I like what the Browns have looked like under Greg Williams, but the Texans are the better overall team and riding the biggest win streak in the UFC fight now, that momentum will make the difference. Texans 34 – Browns 25. – Matt
Broncos (5-6) @ Bengals (5-6): Must start player is absolutely Emmanuel Sanders. A sleeper pick for this one is Case Keenum as I expect us to see a great game from him against this Bengals defense. A player I would avoid starting in this game is going to be Joe Mixon as I believe without Andy Dalton the Broncos will bring help against the run game and shut down Mixon in this one. This game is a game between two teams going in completely different directions. The Broncos have found life as Keenum doesn’t turn the ball over and this defense is really turning a corner. The Bengals have collapsed on themselves and are going to need a new head coach when this season is over. They are now without Dalton for the rest of the season and should be ready to call it a year. Broncos 31 –
Bengals 13. – Matt
Rams (10-1) @ Lions (4-7): Two players that are must starts would be Golladay and Gurley. The sleeper pick in this game is Josh Reynolds as I love his upside in this game against the Detroit battered secondary. The player I would avoid starting in this game is going to be Brandin Cooks as I believe Slay will keep him locked up. This game should be all Rams as they have the better all-around team and Stafford’s O-Line doesn’t protect him which will be a problem with Aaron Donald. Rams 36 – Lions 25. – Matt
Cardinals (2-9) @ Packers (4-6-1): The player that I would consider a must start is Aaron Jones as this game is going to be during a winter storm and the Packers might expose the Arizona run defense. The sleeper pick for this one is Christian Kirk as the Packers struggle more with the slot than they do outside WR’s defensively. I would avoid playing Larry Fitzgerald in this one as the Packers will cover him well and shut him down as an option. I love winter games and I am excited to see this one playout in the snow and wind. The Packers must win every remaining game to have a shot at the playoffs. Packers 20 – Cardinals 12. – Matt
Chiefs (9-2) @ Raiders (2-9): There are surely a few players to start in this one as Mahomes, Kelce, Hill, and Ware are all good players to start this week and I wouldn’t hesitate to do so. If there is a sleeper pick in this one it would be Doug Marin as the Chiefs run defense isn’t anything to write home about. A player I would avoid starting is Derek Carr regardless of the Chiefs defense I believe this is a trap game for him as the Chiefs are going to play to prove they are able to overcome the Kareem Hunt drama. The Chiefs are a great team the Kareem Hunt release due to the February assault video being released will possibly cause them some issues in the locker room entering this one. We will see how they look against a weaker opponent to judge them moving forward without him. Chiefs 30 – Raiders 18. – Matt
Jets (3-8) @ Titans (5-6): I have been recommending Corey Davis all week to people and I am going to continue to do so. The sleeper pick for me is Tajae Sharpe as I believe he could have a great game as well. I do not trust any Jets players this week and I would recommend sitting them all as the Titans defense is going to shut them down. I love the Titans this week as their offense should flourish and their defense should feast. Titans 29 – Jets 17. – Matt
49ers (2-9) @ Seahawks (6-5): Russell Wilson is an absolute start in this weekend’s matchup against the weak 49ers defense. My sleeper pick for this game is David Moore as I believe he will have a big game this weekend. I would avoid starting Matt Breida this weekend as I believe the Seahawks will have a great game as they push for the playoff run. I love what the Seahawks have been doing and believe they are going to continue pushing for their playoff spot. Seahawks 23 – 49ers 16. – Matt
Vikings (6-4-1) @ Patriots (8-3): I would highly recommend Adam Thielen this weekend as he should handle Stephon Gilmore pretty well. My sleeper for this game is a very deep sleeper but I believe we could see a good game from Chad Beebe with Diggs out, if Diggs plays, I also like a Hogan as a deep sleeper. Now a player I would consider sitting is Sony Michel for this one. The Patriots are at home which is always a huge plus for them and the Vikings haven’t been playing at an elite level this season. I see them taking a tough loss this one on the road. Patriots 32 – Vikings 27. – Matt
SNF @ 8:20 PM/ET on NBC:
Chargers (8-3) @ Steelers (7-3-1): There are 4 players that are guaranteed starts and those players are; Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Conner, and Keenan Allen. The sleeper pick in this game is Justin Jackson as he might get some big carries with Melvin Gordon out this weekend. I believe a player to avoid in this matchup is going to be Tyrell Williams as the Steelers should have him locked down. This game should be the best game of the week as these two teams are both Super Bowl quality teams with extremely talented QB’s. Chargers 34 – Steelers 32. – Matt
MNF @ 8:15 PM/ET on ESPN
Redskins (6-5) @ Eagles (5-6): I really like Josh Adams this weekend as he should continue to improve each week as the Eagles continue to show confidence in him. I love Colt McCoy in this matchup as a sleeper pick because of the decimation to the Eagles secondary. I would avoid even touching Golden Tate this weekend as I believe he will have a horrible game. This one with Alex Smith would be on hell of a game, and I do believe Colt will have a good game but not good enough. The Eagles offense will get the job done and pull of a MUCH NEEDED WIN. Eagles 23 – Redskins 21. - Matt
