This week has playoff implications and draft seed implications. This week will be a fun one. We will see the panthers try and move one game away from perfection. We will see the Giants without Odell Beckham Jr and we will see McCarron vs. Osweiller in their respective game.
NFL Week 16
Redskins (7-7) @ Eagles (6-8): This game has all the division meaning behind it on Saturday night. If the Redskins win they are in. They will be playing on the road with that mentality. If they lose this game and the Giants lose it will come down to the Eagles and Redskins. The Eagles know their chances are still alive and they will be playing with the fire and desire to make the playoffs. This game will be interesting to say the least and I am not sure who will win this game honestly both teams to me are pretty equal. I am going to stick with the home team here though. Eagles win 27 – 23 over the Redskins.
Patriots (12-2) @ Jets (9-5): This game has no playoff implications for the auto bye week Patriots but for the Jets on the other hand this team is looking at the wildcard spot. They need to win and then some help the next two weeks. But if they lose they are watching their chances almost slip away. I am going to expect Pats and company though to come out playing hard and try to keep their division rivals out of the playoffs. Patriots win 30 – 24 over the Jets.
Texans (7-7) @ Titans (3-11): For the Texans if they win their in. The Titans if they lose out they get the number one draft pick. This game has implications for both teams of complete opposite ends. I think the Titans would gladly take the number one draft pick and get Mariota a team built around him including O-line. The Texans are a team that I think in the playoffs could win a game since they will have a home game due to winning their division and JJ Watt and co. are able to play well enough to win some and shock everyone. I think the Texans win 21 – 17 over the Titans.
Browns (3-11) @ Chiefs (9-5): This game is open and shut. Browns look to hope for a number one or 2 draft spot and the Chiefs are hotter than any team in the NFL except the Panthers. Chiefs win 34 – 14 over the Browns.
Colts (6-8) @ Dolphins (5-9): The Colts are hoping for a miracle in Tennessee which I do not see happening. The Dolphins are just dead in the water. This game is going to be close and could be entertaining with no real meaning behind it. Dolphins win 23 – 14 over the Colts.
49ers (4-10) @ Lions (5-11): YAWN. I will go give credit to the Lions for waking up, kind of, late in the year. The Niners have looked better with Gabbert but they should draft a QB and get this team a franchise QB and move forward. I can’t blame Jim Tomsula because this team lost a bunch of people to retirement on the defensive side and then injuries on offense. The Lions are starting to somewhat show moments of brilliance but then it gets whipped away by bad play. Lions win 20 – 17 over the 49ers.
Cowboys (4-10) @ Bills (6=8): This game is going to be fun because I think if the Bills find a way to lose they will see the end of Rex Ryan already. He has taken this team backwards and should be canned because this team has the talent to be a playoff team and sit at 10-6 not finish .500 at best. The Cowboys simply had a nightmare season once Romo went down and it has just continued to the end. I think the Bills will find a way to get another win here. Bills win 28 – 19 over the Cowboys.
Bears (5-9) @ Buccaneers (6-8): This game no longer has much meaning except that Lovie gets a shot at his old team. Winston is a good player with a bright future but what we saw last week against the Rams is not what the Bucs fans need to see out of their team. The Bears are looking for signs out of this team that they are starting to improve but I am not sure what to make of them. Kevin White in this team’s roster might make an actual difference but until next year we won’t know. This game is going to be fun I think though. Buccaneers win 30 – 25 over the Bears.
Panthers (14-0) @ Falcons (7-7): Cam Newton will not lie down and take a loss I can tell you that. I
know Atlanta shocked me last week by winning but I do not see that being a repeat performance this week. The Panthers dominated the Falcons in their earlier matchup 2 weeks ago. I think it will be a repeat. Panthers win 34 – 20 over the Falcons.
Steelers (9-5) @ Ravens (4-10): This one will be ugly for the fans at M&T Bank Stadium. This game shouldn’t be a contest. Steelers win 37 – 7 over the Ravens.
Jaguars (5-9) @ Saints (5-9): This game has no playoff implications but this game could be a lot of fun. Blake Bortles has done really well this year and I like the way the Jaguars have looked. The Saints were “upset” last week in a game that most people picked the Saints to walk away with a win. I wouldn’t say that they are a bad team they just have literally no defense and their offense sometimes starts just to slow. Jaguars win 27 – 24 over the Saints.
Rams (6-8) @ Seahawks (9-5): Rams looked so impressive last week. The Rams are so much fun to watch when Tavon Austin and Gurley are both on at the exact same time. They showed it last week on Thursday night football and it was truly fun to watch for me and especially Rams fans. The Seahawks might be the third hottest team in the NFL and they will be looking to finish 11-5 this year. The Seahawks are on fire and Russell Wilson is hotter than a Volcano right now and they are dominating due to it. Seahawks win 31 – 17 over the Rams.
Packers (10-4) @ Cardinals (12-2): Here is game of the week. The Packers need to continue putting pieces together but they aren’t doing it well still. They seem to be squeaking bye every single week and that won’t help them survive this week against the Cardinals. The Cardinals are going to be a Super Bowl threat as I said as long as Carson stays healthy. I am going to take the home team here due to the fact that they have been way more consistent this season. Cardinals win 38 – 34 over the Packers.
Giants (6-8) @ Vikings (9-5): Both these teams need this win for their playoff hopes. They are both two teams who have been great at moments and then had moments where they looked absolutely horrible. The Giants are a fun team to watch when they are clicking. Odell Beckham Jr. will be suspended week 16 for sure and that will kill any hopes for the Giants against this defense. Vikings win 34 – 24 over the Giants.
Bengals (11-3) @ Broncos (10-4): If the Bengals win they get the automatic bye week and they will be playing hard for that especially for Daltons sake. The Broncos will be looking to avoid being tied with the Chiefs heading to week 17. I am not sure how this game will go but it will be fun Osweiller vs. McCarron two back ups finally getting their shot and they both could be good QB’s in the NFL. Along with two decent defenses with a missing ground game. AJ Green vs Demaryius Thomas. This will be a lot of fun to watch on Monday night. Bengals win 23 – 18 over the Broncos.
Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons. Early in the season, nobody would have expected the Falcons to have fallen this far. Nobody would have expected the Panthers to be remain undefeated this late in the season. Last week, I argued that history favors the Panthers losing at least one game this season, but all Carolina did was hold on to defeat the Giants and prove yet again that they are one of the best coached teams in the NFL. Panthers win this one. Final score: Carolina Panthers 24, Atlanta Falcons 23.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens. The Pittsburgh Steelers are still playing for a playoff berth (and even a potential AFC North title depending on how the Bengals perform over the next two weeks). The Ravens are just playing to end the season. While Baltimore will try everything they can to upset the Steelers this week, Pittsburgh will prevail. Final score: Pittsburgh Steelers 28, Baltimore Ravens 14.
Dallas Cowboys @ Buffalo Bills. The Bills have gotten worse as the season goes on, but Kellen Moore and the Cowboys might be just what Buffalo need to get back to form. The Cowboys are a good team when Romo plays, but Romo is on IR and this is a team on rapid decline. Bills win. Final score: Buffalo Bills 21, Dallas Cowboys 14.
San Francisco 49ers @ Detroit Lions. Detroit is the better team, period. With their new offensive coordinator, the Lions offense finally looks like an NFL offense. While the 49ers did mount a nice rally against a solid Bengals defense last week, this is still a unit with very few weapons. Lions win this one. Final score: Detroit Lions 24, San Francisco 49ers 14.
Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Chiefs. I don't trust the Browns to win anything this season. This is a team that has been in perpetual rebuilding mode since 1999, and nothing is different this year. The Chiefs, on the other hand, have a lot to play for. They're still in contention for a divisional title and a playoff berth. Chiefs should win this one easily. Final score: Kansas City Chiefs 24, Cleveland Browns 14.
Indianapolis Colts @ Miami Dolphins. This week, two of the most disappointing teams in the NFL face off. The Colts were supposed to be a Superbowl contender heading into this season, but are in free-fall with Andrew Luck injured and Matt Hasselbeck finally starting to look his age. The Dolphins started very slowly behind Ryan Tannehill, but are finally starting to improve. Miami wins this one. Final score: Miami Dolphins 28, Indianapolis Colts 24.
New England Patriots @ New York Jets. Everybody expects the Patriots to win this thing, but the Jets are still in contention. I'm hoping for the Fitzmagic to continue! I'm going with the Jets winning and upsetting the Patriots! Final score: New York Jets 27, New England Patriots 23.
Houston Texans @ Tennessee Titans. This may be a rough game for the Titans. Zach Mettenberger has struggled against Houston in the past, and a win in this game will help the Texans a lot in the fight for the AFC South title. Texans deliver and win this game. Final score: Houston Texans 35, Tennessee Titans 14.
Chicago Bears @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This week, Lovie Smith gets to host his old team, the Chicago Bears. The Bears are who Lovie thinks they are, and that's a pretty bad football team right now. The Buccaneers are playing well right now, and the Bears are on a major losing streak. Bucs win. Final score: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28, Chicago Bears 27.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ New Orleans Saints. This game could go either way, but the Jaguars are the healthier team with Drew Brees struggling with injury. I'm thinking that could give the Jaguars an edge this week. Final score: Jacksonville Jaguars 27, New Orleans Saints 24.
St. Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are in the middle of a playoff push and playing at home. They should win this game handily. Final score: Seattle Seahawks 38, St. Louis Rams 14.
Green Bay Packers @ Arizona Cardinals. These are two of the best teams in the NFC right now. That being said, Arizona is a far more complete team, and is just playing better football. Combine that with Arizona playing at home, and they should win this one. Final score: Arizona Cardinals 24, Green Bay Packers 17.
New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings. The Giants will be without their main offensive weapon, Odell Beckham Jr. Last week, the Vikings showed that they can compete even without their top offensive weapon Adrian Peterson. The Vikings are a better team than the Giants, and they will win this game. Final score: Minnesota Vikings 24, New York Giants 13.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Denver Broncos. If AJ McCarron heads into Denver and has a great game, that is going to make things interesting for the Cincinnati front office moving forward. That being said, I still firmly believe that Marvin Lewis, not Andy Dalton, is the reason for Cincinnati's prime time woes. That will be tested this week as the Dalton-less Bengals travel to Denver on Monday night. I'm picking Denver in this one. Final score: Denver Broncos 27, Cincinnati Bengals 7.
